Jailer is all set for release this week and fans can't get enough of Superstar Rajnikanth from the snippets shared from the film’s grand audio launch event. Sun Pictures, the film’s production house, finally released Rajnikanth’s electrifying speech from the event on Tuesday.

Rajnikanth started his speech by thanking his fellow artists, and went on to reveal the reason for the gap in his filmography after Annaatthe (2021). “I was waiting for a good script after Annaatthe and wanted to work with a good director who could present me in a new light. I am thankful to new filmmakers like PA Ranjith, Karthik Subbaraj and now Nelson, who changed the way I’m shown on screen. I wanted to make something different this time”

Rajini went on to share how Vinayakan was cast alongside major stars like Mohanlal, Shivraj Kumar, Jackie Shroff and Ramya Krishnan. He also explained how he trusted Nelson’s vision even after reading the underwhelming reviews of his last film Beast (2022), featuring Vijay in the lead role, and how no one backed Nelson’s conviction in the initial days. Rajinikanth points out Nelson’s ability to mine black comedy in the most serious of situations. “I have been amazed at his ability to generate a chuckle worthy line in the most gruesome, violent scenes. Nelson also has a very clear understanding of what he wants in a frame and what to avoid and wants all performances fine tuned as it is in his head.” Rajnikanth also spoke about his early career struggles, path to stardom, personal anecdotes from the making of some of his older films that are regarded as classics now.

Jailer is billed as an out-and-out action film and features music by Anirudh Ravichander. The film follows the life of a common man with a deadly past, who is forced to fend for his family against a crime syndicate.
