Ever since the news of Ramayana being directed by Nitesh Tiwari began to circulate, several assumptions have been made on the casting of the film. Although, it now confirmed that Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Yash and Sunny Deol will be playing prominent characters in the epic drama but despite them there are other vital characters that are yet to be casted.

And among all the hoopla going around, there were reports of Lara Dutta playing the role of 'Kaikeyi' in Ramayana. In a recent interview with Indian Express, the actress addressed the rumors saying that she is fine, “I am hearing it a lot as well. I am leaving the rumors out there. I also like reading and hearing about them so please continue. Who wouldn’t want to be a part of Ramayana? There were so many characters I would have loved to play if they were offered to me- Surpanakha, Mandodari, I am playing them all. (laughs), she said.

Directed by Tiwari, Ramayana features Kapoor as Lord Ram, Pallavi as Maa Sita, Yash as Raavan and Deol as Hanuman. The first part of Hanuman trilogy is scheduled to release around Diwali 2025.
