The makers of the Karthi-starring heist comedy Japan recently launched the film’s trailer at a star-studded event that featured prominent actors including Suriya, Lokesh Kanagaraj, and Tamannaah Bhatia. The makers have now announced that the film has been cleared for release on November 10 with a ‘U/A’ rating. Japan will be clashing with Karthik Subbaraj’s Jigarthanda Double X, which stars Raghava Lawrence and SJ Suryah.
Japan stars Karthi in a quirky, new avatar as the titular thief Japan and follows a heist he commits at the house of a politician. Enemies, cops, and the politicians’ gang converge on him to find the whereabouts of the loot.
The film is written and directed by Raju Murugan. Backed by SR Prabhu and SR Prakash Babu under the Dream Warrior Pictures banner, Japan co-stars Anu Emmanuel, KS Ravikumar, Sunil, and Vijay Milton. It has music by GV Prakash Kumar, cinematography by S Ravi Varman, and editing by Philomin Raj.
