Karthik Subbaraj is all set for the release of Jigarthanda DoubleX, and the director took to his social media handle to wish a special update on the occasion of the lead star Raghava Lawrence’s birthday.
In the post, the director announced that the film will be released on November 10 as the major Diwali release. The new poster features an image of an ecstatic Raghava Lawrence with the caption, “A Pandya Western Story”, a callback to the fun spin on the word Pan India, from the film's official teaser released last month. The film, a quasi-sequel to Jigarthanda (2014) also directed by Subbaraj will deal with the creative clash between a filmmaker and a gangster set in the 1970s.
The film will feature SJ Suryah and Nimisha Sajayan in pivotal roles while Santhosh Narayanan and S Thirunavukkarasu handle music and cinematography departments. The film is billed to have a wider canvas than the first film, and the project is bankrolled by Kaarthekeyen Santhanam and Kathiresan, with Karthik Subbaraj’s home banner Stone Bench Films presenting it. Dhilip Subbbarayan handles the action choreography for the film which will have production design by Balasubramanian and Kumar Gangappan.
