Kareena Kapoor Khan: I don't want to do stardom anymore

During a Film Companion Front Row Session, Kareena Kapoor Khan who along with her Jaane Jaan co-stars Jaideep Ahlawat, Vijay Verma and filmmaker Sujoy Ghosh attended the session shared that she is no longer chasing stardom but looking to play characters in films. Although the commercial entertainers will always be a part of her journey, she is also enjoying the current new phase in her life.

"I've always been someone who wants to compete with herself. Because I've always had the confidence in me that I'll always try to be better in each film," stated the actress.

She added, "I love playing these characters (Rupa from Laal Singh Chaddha, 2022 and Maya D'Souza from Jaane Jaan). Like I said, now it's no more about the stardom. I don't want to do stardom anymore. I want to do characters. Because I've always wanted to be in front of the camera and be known as an actor. That has also been a top priority, always."

"Of course, the Poo (from Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham, 2001) and the Geet (from Jab We Met, 2007), and the blockbusters - that are all part of the 23 years. It can't not be. But I think I'm probably having the best time in my career right now. And with the next two films - whether it's Jaane Jaan or The Buckingham Murders, I'm kind of entering a phase which is unknown, but I'm super excited,"Khan concluded.

Jaane Jaan is available to stream on Netflix from September 21 onwards.
