Utkarsh Sharma, who is Gadar 2 director Anil Sharma’s son, will reprise his character as Tara Singh (Sunny Deol) and Sakeena’s (Ameesha Patel) son 22 years after the release of the first film.

Commenting on being a  part of the sequel, Sharma said, “I’m overwhelmed and I’m looking forward to watching the film with the audiences on August 11. Everyone has given their 110 per cent to the film – be it the actors or technicians. The way the audience has also reacted to the trailer is overwhelming. So, it’s also a motivation to work hard further.”

Gadar 2 will clash with Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2 at the box office on August 11. After Deol commented on this ‘clash’, Sharma shared his views as well. The young actor said, “It’s good that these two films are releasing together. Akshay sir ki film hai aur Akshay sir ke toh hum bhi fan hai.(It’s Akshay sir’s film and I am also an Akshay Kumar fan).  I’m so happy about the fact that their censor issue was going on and I’ve heard it’s now resolved. It should be celebrated. The way Barbie and Oppenheimer came together and it was a celebration.”

Sharma also added that more films mean more entertainment for the audiences. He said, “Gadar (2001) and Lagaan (2001) came together and it was a celebration. That’s what the audience is missing – cinema ka joh mela laga rehta tha (It was like a funfair). The film’s purpose to entertain the audience is much bigger than the controversies or negativity. I think it’s important to create that vibe again in the theatres and it would be better for the industry on the whole. I wish them all the best. Akshay sir is playing Mahadev in the film and the way I see it is, our film will have Mahadev’s blessings too.”

Gadar 2 is directed and produced by Anil Sharma and releases theatrically on August 11.
