In an exclusive interview with Film Companion, filmmaker Kedar Shinde who is basking the success of his recent release Baipan Bhari Deva starring veteran actress Rohini Hattangady, Vandana Gupte, Sukanya Kulkarni, Suchitra Bandekar and Shilpa Navalkar in the lead, spoke about providing equal opportunities in terms of characterization in movies.

“I also feel all these ladies (referring to the cast of the film) have been taken for granted by the industry for the characters they have played in the past. If there is a mother role, call Rohini Mam or Vandana Mam, if there is a sister-in-law role, call Shilpa. But I feel more characters need to be written for them as actors, and with this film it has begun,” Shinde shared.

Directed by Shinde and produced by Jio Studios, Baipan Bhari Deva’s opening week box office collection was recorded to be Rs. 12.50 crores, the second week it doubled to Rs.24.85 crores. It’s been two weeks since the film is running successfully in theatres and sources close to the production house have also revealed that the film has already crossed the 50 crore mark.
