AR Rahman Congratulates Mani Ratnam As He Becomes A Member Of The Oscar Committee

After AR Rahman and Suriya, Mani Ratnam becomes a member of the Oscar Award committee. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences recently sent invitations to 398 artists to join their panel including Mani Ratnam, Karan Johar, Jr NTR, MM Keeravani, Ram Charan, Chandra Bose, and others.

Mani Ratnam is the first Tamil director to join the prestigious panel and Oscar-winning music director AR Rahman took to Twitter to congratulate him. Rahman wrote, "Congratulations #Manirathnam sir for becoming member of the @TheAcademy …. #Oscar #PS 1& 2 #Dilse #Roja #Bombay and many more! Welcome to the club."

Mani Ratnam made his debut in Tamil cinema with Pagal Nilavu (1985). He went on to become one of the most prominent and influential directors in India. His notable films include Alaipayuthey (2000), Kannathil Muthamittal (2002), Raavanan (2010), O Kadhal Kanmani (2015), and Ponniyin Selvan films (2022, 2023).
