Akshay Kumar starrer OMG 2 released in theatres with an A certificate and multiple edits made by the Central Board of Film Certification. Inspite of tough competition from Gadar 2, the film has done reasonably well and is slowly inching towards the 100 crore mark.

Multiple reports, however, have declared the film a flop and claimed that the film was made at a budget of 150 crores. Amidst these speculations, Ajit Andhare, COO of Viacom18 Studios, one of the producers of the film, has issued a clarification about the film’s budget and revealed that Kumar didn’t charge a rupee in fees for the film. Andhare said, "The reports of the budget of OMG 2 are grossly exaggerated. On the contrary, Akshay didn't charge a rupee in fee and in fact, walked alongside us in both the financial and creative risk involved in such a courageous film.”

Speaking about the company’s long-term relationship with Kumar, Andhare said,  “We share a long history and understanding with him as a studio since OMG (2012), Special 26 (2013), and Toilet: Ek Prem Katha (2017).  I have been totally in lockstep with him in taking up scripts that are unconventional but stand for something larger and meaningful.” He added, that without Kumar’s support, making a movie like OMG 2 would have been impossible.

OMG 2 is written and directed by Amit Rai. The film stars Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam.
