Good Newwz Trailer Talk: Akshay Kumar And Diljit Dosanjh In A Sperm Mix-Up

The trailer of 'the biggest goof-up of the year' is here. The Good Newwz trailer introduces us to two couples, both named Batra. First are the urban, upper middle-class Batras played by Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor Khan. The two are attempting to have a baby, and opt for IVF under the behest of their doctor, played by Adil Hussain.

Enter the second set of Batras, a louder, more animated couple played by Kiara Advani and Diljit Dosanjh. They too are in the midst of an IVF procedure.

What follows is a 'meaningful comedy of errors' which is actually far more of a twisted, dark comedy if you think about it. The clinic mixes up the identity of both couples, resulting in the wrong husband's sperm being used for the wrong wife. So now both the Batra women are carrying the child of an absolute stranger.

What follows is a war between the couples of sorts, as both try to make sense of the situation and forcefully insert themselves into each others lives given the strange situation they're all in.

All of this, of course, in the dependably glammed up Dharma packaging, with frequent cutaways to colourful party songs.

Good Newwz is directed by Raj Mehta, who's previously worked as an assistant director for Dharma Productions staples Shashank Khaitan and Shakun Batra. Mehta marks the 16th debut director to be launched by the production house, something producer Karan Johar emphasised at the film's trailer launch.

Aside from looking to break Vicky Donor's record of the number of times the word 'sperm' is used in a Hindi film, Good Newwz may well be a sincere attempt to talk about topics like IVF. This is Akshay Kumar's fourth release this year after KesariMission Mangal and Housefull 4.
