It began with his Climax, a film that starred porn-star Mia Malkova in a lost desert with roving bandits, and a turquoise pond from which she could emerge butt-naked. Ram Gopal Varma released it online, a 100 Rupees pay-per-view on an online platform. The commercial success of this endeavour made him release a spate of films online like Naked Nanga Nagnam, Powerstar, and Thriller, each pay-per view a little more than the last. (He even put out the trailer of Powerstar as a pay-per-view till it was uploaded on YouTube.)

He has also made a slew of announcements, from a film about kidnapping Katrina Kaif to one on Arnab Goswami, a horror film with Makarand Deshpande and even a coronavirus based film shot entirely during lockdown

Now it is Ramu, the first of a three-part biopic on himself. Part 1 is about his college days, Vijayawada gang fights, and the making of his film Shiva. Part 2 titled Ram Gopal Varma is about his life in Mumbai, “girls, gangsters, and Amitabh Bachchan”. Part 3 is titled RGV and is about his failures and his (often aired) views on “God, Sex, and Society.” Part 1 and 2 will have different actors playing him, and Varma will play Varma in part 3.
