In an interview with the Times of India, Shahid Kapoor talked about his shift from a cute guy to an actor who plays complex characters. Regarding why he didn’t do complex characters before, Kapoor said, “The desire to do something complex and challenging was always there, but I was not offered those roles earlier. You can only choose from the choices that are in front of you.”

He also asserted that he wouldn’t do only complex roles and venture into other kinds of roles. He said, “ If I keep repeating myself in that zone, it will become cliché. The idea is not to become a cliché, and that is what I intend to do - keep changing every time.”

Kapoor made his streaming debut earlier this year with Raj and DK’s Farzi. The series also starred Vijay Sethupathi. Kapoor will be seen next in Ali Abbas Zafar’s Bloody Daddy which will premiere on Jio Cinema on June 9.
