Varun Tej-Karuna Kumar's Matka Officially Launched

We had recently reported that Telugu actor Varun Tej would be collaborating with Palasa filmmaker Karuna Kumar for his next. The film was officially launched on Thursday with a pooja ceremony. The makers have also announced that the period has been titled Matka. The launch saw prominent names in the Telugu film industry like Suresh Babu, Allu Aravind, Dil Raju, Harish Shankar and Maruthi in attendance.

An official statement revealed that the film's story, set in Vizag, takes place over a span of 24 years, from 1958 to 1982, and is based on a shocking real incident. Moreover, Varun Tej will be sporting four different looks in the film.

Meenakshi Chaudhary of HIT 2 fame and Nora Fatehi will be playing the female leads while Naveen Chandra and Kishore will appear in prominent roles. GV Prakash Kumar will be scoring music for the film.

Mohan Cherukuri (CVM) and Dr Vijender Reddy Teegala will be backing the big-budgeted film through Vyra Entertainments. The film's crew includes DoP Priyaseth, production designer Ashish Teja and editor Karthika Srinivas R. Billed as a pan-India film, Matka will be released in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi.
