Trailer of Ashok Selvan-Sarath Kumar’s Por Thozhil Out

The trailer of the investigative thriller Por Thozhil, was unveiled on Tuesday by AR Rahman. While the teaser, which was released last introduced us to the central idea of the film—the police trying to hunt down a killer on the loose—the trailer offers a wider look at the characters and the world of the film. The film stars Ashok Selvan as a newly appointed cop with an outstanding record in in the training phase, who has to work with a senior, played by Sarath Kumar, to solve gruesome murders.

Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman took to his Twitter handle to share the trailer and wished actor-politician Sarath Kumar and the team of Por Thozhil. He also shared a new poster of the film that features Sarath Kumar sporting a compulsive look, while Ashok Selvan is seen holding a gun.

Por Thozhil, billed as an investigative thriller, is directed by debutant Vignesh Raja, who co-wrote the film with Alfred Prakash. The film stars Nikhila Vimal in a prominent role, and is Ashok Selvan’s second outing this year after Modern Love Chennai.

Applause Entertainment Studio, known for titles like Hansal Mehta's Scam 1992 and Nandita Das' Zwigato, is venturing into Tamil cinema with Por Thozhil. The film is a co-production between Applause Entertainment Studio, E4 Experiments and Eprius Studio. The film’s cinematography is handled by Kalaiselvan Sivaji while Jakes Bejoy of Ayyappanum Koshiyum (2020) fame and Sreejith Sarangm are the music composer and editor, respectively. 

Por Thozhil will hit the big screens on June 9.
