Shamshera struggles at the box office

Ranbir Kapoor returned to the spotlight with Shamshera after four years, but the film, which also stars Vaani Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt, has not performed well. According to Bollywood Hungama, Shamshera made Rs. 10.25 crore on its opening day and Rs. 40.45 crores in its first week. The numbers have been declining and the film failed to earn even Rs. 50 crore in its week. The film's worldwide box office collection is Rs. 61.16 crores.

Shamshera was set in the 1800s, in the fictional city of Kaza, and had Kapoor in a double role. Kapoor's next big release is Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva, in which he will play a superhero. The multistar cast includes Amitabh Bachchan, Alia Bhatt, Nagarjuna and others. Brahmastra will release on September 6th.
