In an interview with Film Companion, actor Neena Gupta who is currently promoting her upcoming film Uunchai with co-star Sarika, spoke about how it feels to be an outcast in the film industry, which she has been working in for decades. Gupta also spoke about the video she posted on Instagram on Diwali, asking fans to remain happy like she did, even if they didn’t make it to anyone’s guest list.

“I don’t like late nights because I get up very early, even if I sleep at 3am, I’ll get up at 6:30am,so mere ko agle din kaam nahi hota hain (so I’m unable to work the next day) so I don’t go out much and because I don’t go out much, people have stopped calling me. You know it happens, pehle aap jayenge, phir auron se milenge, phir vo aapko bulayenge (when you go, meet other people there and then they invite you) toh mene bandh hi kar diya (so I stopped going out).” She added, “Ab mein soch rahi hun ki thoda jana chahiye (I’m thinking now that I should be going) par jaoongi toh agle din kaam kaise hoga, aankhein hi nahi khulengi. (If i go, I won’t be able to work the next day. My eyes just won’t open).”

Gupta will be sharing the screen with Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, Sarika and Parineeti Chopra in the Sooraj Barjatya directorial, Uunchai, which is releasing on November 11.
