Manna Maamanna: Arivu Joins Hands with AR Rahman for a Rousing Sap Song in Maamannan

The song is part of the album of Mari Selvaraj’s Maamannan

The makers of the Udhayanidhi Stalin and Vadivelu starrer Maamannan recently released another single from the film’s album, ‘Manna Maamanna’. This song marks the fourth single from the film after ‘Raasa Kannu’, ‘Jigu Jigu Rail’ and ‘Nenjame Nenjame’. The song was released along with a lyrical video.

‘Manna Maamanna’ is written and performed by noted rapper and songwriter Arivu. This is the first time the rapper is collaborating with composer AR Rahman. The lyrical video begins with a quote by Mari Selvaraj which says, “Only when one tires of lines on being patient and turns to write lines on breaking the status quo, there springs a fountain of freedom!” The song then starts with a refrain from Arivu as we see him performing in the studio. The video also shows us glimpses of the behind the scenes footage from a photo shoot featuring Udhayanidhi Stalin and Vadivelu. Director Mari Selvaraj can also be seen directing the actors during the shoot. Like the rest of the singles that have been released, except for ‘Nenjame Nenjame’, the video is presented in black and white.

Maamannan is written and directed by Mari Selvaraj in his third film after Pariyerum Perumal and Karnan. The film stars Udhayanidhi Stalin (in possibly his last role before he shifts to his political career), Vadivelu, Fahad Fasil and Keerthy Suresh. Backed by Stalin under the banner Red Giant Movies, the film features music by AR Rahman, cinematography by Theni Eswar and editing by Selva RK. The team is aiming for a June release.
