Kannur Squad Trailer Out; Mammootty Leads A Man Hunt

On the occasion of actor Mamootty’s birthday on September 7, the team of his next film titled Kannur Squad (2023) released the official trailer of the film.

The police procedural revolves around a nationwide manhunt mission undertaken by four police officers from Kerala to nab a criminal gang. The trailer offers a sneak peek into the road movie-like nature of this crime drama that deals with the psychological effect of the grueling search on the morale of the gang of police officers. Kannur Squad marks the directorial debut of cinematographer Roby Varghese Raj, who is known for cranking the camera for films like The Great Father (2017) and John Luther (2022). The film will feature Mammootty as an undercover “ASI” who is on the trail of a mysterious gang despite facing constant obstacles and challenges, from within and outside the system.

The film is being bankrolled by Mammootty himself under his production house Mammootty Company. Kannur Squad will be based on a screenplay by actor Rony Varghese Raj, who is making his writing debut alongside co writer Muhammed Shafi. The film features a soundtrack composed by Sushin Shyam and cinematography by Rahil. The film will have an ensemble supporting cast consisting of Sunny Wayne, Kishore, Vijayaraghavan, Rony David Raj, Azeez Nedumangad and Shabareesh Varma in pivotal roles. Kannur Squad has been shot extensively across many locations throughout the country and is touted to be a road movie thriller. The makers have not yet announced the release date for the film.
