French Institue in India Presents ‘Women Directors from France’

The Embassy of France and French Institute in India (IFI) have announced “Women Directors from France”, a film festival in collaboration with India Habitat Centre (IHC) where five films by women filmmakers will be screened from January 9-23. The screenings will be followed by a Q&A session. Here are more details.  

Where: Stein Auditorium, India Habitat Centre (IHC), Lodhi Road, New Delhi 

Entry fee: Free entry (first come, first served basis)

Jan 9 at 7 pm: 

Real Love / C'est ça l'amour by Claire Burger

Drama / French with English subtitles / 98 mins

Synopsis: Forbach, Eastern France. Present day. Since his wife walked out on the family, Mario has raised their two daughters on his own. Frida, 14, blames him for her mother leaving. Niki, 17, dreams of independence. Meanwhile, Mario waits for his wife to come home.

Jan 23 at 7 pm:

Skies of Lebanon / Sous le ciel d'Alice by Chloé Mazlo

Drama / French with English Subtitles / 90 mins

Synopsis: In the 1950s, the young Alice leaves Switzerland for Lebanon, a sunny and exuberant country. There, she falls in love with Joseph, a mischievous astrophysicist who dreams of sending the first Lebanese into space. Alice quickly finds her place in his family. But after a few years of dolce vita, the civil war intrudes in their paradise.
