After a funny, and refreshing teaser of Double XL, the trailer that was released today doesn’t seem to offer much. The three-minute-long trailer starts off with Cricketer Shikhar Dhawan’s grand entry in a chauffeur-driven car asking Huma Qureshi for a dance only for her to realize she was daydreaming. In the background runs a voice over that says ‘Kuch logon ke sapne aukat se bhi bade hote hain’ (Some people tend to dream bigger that their worth).

Rajshri (Qureshi) who aspires to become a sports presenter is rejected because of her weight issues while Saira Khanna (Sonakshi Sinha) who dreams to become a fashion designer is seen struggling to fit into her own clothes. A scene in the trailer shows the two women accidentally meeting each other and bonding over their mutual ordeal of being body shamed with the struggles they face to accomplish their dreams. From here onwards the trailer gets erratic, with confusing visuals, the introduction of several characters without a backstory, abrupt cuts, and a disorganized plot, so much so that the essence of such a powerful subject is lost.

Directed by Satramm Ramani, the film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar. Double XL stars Sinha and Qureshi as leads along with Zaheer Iqbal, Mahat Raghavendra and Dhawan making his Hindi film debut. The film will stream on Netflix from November 4 onwards.
