10 Difficult-To-Translate Nivin Pauly Dialogues That Have Become A Part Of Pop Culture

It's 10 years of Malarvadi Arts Club, which also means that it's 10 years of Nivin Pauly, the actor whose comic timing is just as popular as his romantic hero image. Here are 10 dialogues he owned like no one else can.

Thattathin Marayathu

"Olu aa thattam ittu kazhinjal ente Saare, pinne chuttonnum kannan pattoolla

"When she wears that hijab, my sir, you can't see anything else around you."

The story of Vinod (Nivin Pauly), a Hindu boy who falls head over heels in love with Aisha (Isha Talwar), a Muslim girl, was undeniably Nivin Pauly's breakout role. Set in Thalassery in Kerala, the movie had some memorable dialogues delivered in the typical slang of the region, the most iconic of those being this one where Vinod narrates his love story to a police officer and tries to explain why he fell in love with Aisha.

"Matha pitha guru daivam

"Mother, Father, Teacher, God".

This dialogue delivered by George (Nivin Pauly) in Premam, as he pins peon from his college to the wall for making lewd comments against his teacher Malar (Sai Pallavi), somehow appealed to a big audience. There are plenty of videos of fans online, lip-syncing to this dialogue.

Action Hero Biju

"Ente station paridhiyil oru gunda mathi"

There's a need for just one goonda within my station limits and that's me.

In this scene in Action Hero Biju, which marks Biju's (Nivil Pauly) entry in the movie, he slowly wraps a coconut in a piece of cloth before going berserk on a thug inside the police station. Pointing to his badge that reads "Biju Paulose Sub Inspector of Police', he delivers this dialogue right after which the movie title is displayed on screen.

Thattathin Marayathu

"Keralathile Aanpillarkk Enthinadaa Six Pack?"

"Why do boys in Kerala need a six pack?

This dialogue, which came at a time when sculpted abs were coveted, almost became a clarion call for youth in Kerala. It was another one of those quips from Thattathin Marayathu that viewers found hard to forget.

Bangalore Days

"Thaaat isss becaaauseee , after a great consideration and consultation , I came to the conclusion that this socialist illusion was a great botheration to the Indian nation whose basic occupation was cultivation and irrigation. But with further contemplation and deliberation, I discovered that without globalisation and exploration there cannot be optimisation to make India's transformation to a super power nation. Soooo … ?

Nivin Pauly went all out of his comfort zone in Bangalore Days where he played 'Kuttan', a nerdy software engineer. Kuttan wants to land a job in Bengaluru, and during the interview, he gets asked why he opted for the software industry despite his father being a farmer. This was his hilarious response.

Neram

"Kashttapedan varunno?"

"Will you come along with me to suffer?"

In this scene in the bi-lingual movie that did well in Malayalam as well as Tamil, Mathew (Nivin Pauly), makes a not-so-subtle attempt proposing to Jeena (Nazriya Nazim).

Premam

"Step kurach koode easy aakavo?"

"Can you make the steps a little easier?"

George and his friends rope in their teacher Malar (Sai Pallavi) to choreograph a dance number for them. This scene comes as a surprise for George, his friends as well as the audience as Malar performs some slick moves.

Oru Vadakkan Selfie

"Njan Gautham Menone assist cheythalo ennu alojikuva. Njangal randu perudem thought process same annu."

"I was thinking about assisting Gautham Menon. Our thought processes are the same."

In this rib-tickling comedy, Umesh (Nivin Pauly) decides he wants to try his hand at filmmaking. Funnily enough, he wants to assist South Indian filmmaker, Gautham Vasudev Menon, famous for films such as Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa and Minnale.

Jacobinte Swargarajyam

"Orupaadundallo. Ente ee skin, ente ee face, ente ee body…

There's so much (to like about me). My skin, my face, my body…

Jerry (Nivin Pauly) impatiently shuts the door to tell his sister the story of how he met his girlfriend. When his sister takes a jab at him asking what his girlfriend saw in him, Nivin Pauly says this dialogue in a 'What's not to like?' vibe.

Love Action Drama

"Ingadu vanne nee. Ingadu ninne nee."

"Come here! Stand right here!"

One may not be a huge fan of this film, but the first half hour or so was filled with several LOL moments. One such is when Dineshan's (Nivin) cousin Sagar mixes up room numbers and sends Dineshan to the wrong room. This mix-up eventually turns out to be good, but the immediate embarrassment caused deserves a talking down in Nivin's inimitable style. "Ingudu Vanne Nee…" is now gold among meme makers and trollers.

Which of these is your favourite?
