These days it feels like a real challenge to keep up with what's dropping when on which platform, with new show announcements popping up all the time. That said, December promises to be an exciting finish for the year in the world of streaming with a wide range of stories. From new action and fantasy spectacles on Netflix, to new offerings from both TVF and Dice Media to the return of Inside Edge, here are our picks of what's releasing this month across platforms.

Netflix

The Witcher

When: December 20th 

Based on the book series of the same name, Netflix's latest sprawling big bet is a fantasy epic which sees Henry Cavill as a monster hunter. We are so there.

6 Underground

When: December 13th 

Michael Bay, bad-ass action spectacle and a rag tag team of mercenaries led by Ryan Reynolds. One of Netflix's biggest films yet looks like it could well be the most entertaining things they've made so far.

You Season 2

When: December 26th 

Everyone's favourite stalker returns for more creepiness and generating pressing conversations about masculinity and obsession. This time around Joe finds a new target to obsess over and gives us the chills once again.

Tiffany Haddish: Black Mitzvah

When: December 3rd

One of the last few years' most notable breakout comedic talents, Tiffany Haddish finally gets her own Netflix special. After making her mark on the big screen with films like Girl's Trip, she returns to the stage with a show which promises to be a 'badass coming-of-age celebration filled with teachable moments'. Sounds about right.

Ghost Stories

When: December 31st

A roster of some of Hindi cinema's finest filmmakers Zoya Akhtar, Karan Johar, Dibakar Banerjee and Anurag Kashyap come together once again for their third anthology after Bombay Talkies and Lust Stories. This time around, as the title suggests, expect a range of different takes on the horror genre. Ghost Stories drops on January 1st at midnight.

Inside Edge Season 2

When: December 6th 

One of the first Indian streaming shows of its scale returns for Season 2, promising a deeper look behind the curtains into the murky world of Indian cricket, with more controversy, substance abuse and murder – all the key ingredients for an addictive watch.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 3

When: December 6th

Our favourite quippy comedian and her hilarious manager are back for adventures in conquering the world of 50s' stand-up. Season 3 of the winner of 16 Emmy Awards (so far), sees Midge and Susie discover the struggles of life on tour. Expect more jokes, oddball parents and banter faster than the mind can comprehend.

Don't Tell Amma – Stand Up Special From Sumukhi Suresh 

When: December 20th 

After establishing herself as one of the leading names in Indian sketch comedy and being a part of some of the best comedy web series including Better Life Foundation and Pushpavalli, comedian Sumukhi Suresh next looks to conquer stand up with her first Prime Video special.

The Favourite

When: December 7th

Olivia Colman, Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz team up with the unique mind that is Yorgos Lanthimos for a Oscar-winning royal drama set in 18th century England. Need we say more?

The L Word: Generation Q

When: December 9th

The path-breaking 2004 drama series returns more than 10 years later with the same cast and new crop of characters with more drama, love, heartbreak, setbacks and success in LA.

Brochara

When: December 5th

Dice Media's latest offering is a story of brotherhood between four friends and their attempt to navigate love, life and friendship. This one certainly has our interest, let's just hope it's not another entry into the done-to-death Pyaar Ka Punchnaama-style of story.

TVF

Cubicles

When: December 10th

Next up from TVF is a show about millennials stepping into the corporate world. Starring Abhishek Chauhan and Nidhi Bisht among others, expect more of TVF's signature style of uber-relatable attempts at adulting.

Apple TV

Truth Be Told

When: December 6th 

Starring Octavia Spencer and Aaron Paul, the latest from AppleTV takes us into the world of true crime podcasts. When new evidence compels podcaster Poppy Parnell (Octavia Spencer) to reopen the murder case that made her a national sensation, she comes face to face with Warren Cave (Aaron Paul), the man she may have mistakenly helped to put behind bars.

Ragini MMS Returns Season 2

When: December 18th

ALTBalaji's latest spine-chilling erotic tale revolves around an all girls' trip that goes horribly wrong when they check into a haunted hotel. The show will also be available on ZEE5.

Karoline Kamakshi 

When: December 5th 

What happens when a 'bad-ass French detective' and 'a traditional Tamil brahmin girl' come together to catch 'an infamous drug lord named Furkin'? ZEE5 has your answer on December 5th.

Rangbaaz Phirse

When: December 20th

ZEE5's tentpole gangster drama returns for Season 2. Starring Jimmy Shergill and Gul Panag among others, the new season follows the story of a man who gets consumed by a life crime after falling into the murky world of politics.

Queen

When: December 13th

In what looks to be MX Player's most ambitious series yet in both scale and talent, Queen stars Baahubali's Ramya Krishnan as India's youngest Chief Minister. From prolific director Gautham Vasudev Menon, the political drama releases on December 13th.
