Ajay Devgn's fourth venture as a director might prove to be his most commercially successful film so far. Bholaa, in which Devgn plays the titular role, made Rs. 11.20 crore on its first day, which is considerably more than the opening collections of the three films he has previously directed.

The action thriller went on to earn Rs 7.40 crore and Rs 12.20 crore on its second and third days respectively, according to Bollywood Hungama. It earned Rs 13.48 crore on its fourth day. Devgn’s previous release Drishyam 2 (2022) — which was, like Bholaa, led by Devgn and Tabu — earned Rs 15.38 crore on its opening day and Rs 64.14 crore by the end of its first weekend. Bholaa’s box office collection is lower at the end of its first weekend at Rs 44.28 crore, but with no major releases scheduled for the coming long weekend, the film could see a spike in its earnings. Bholaa is a remake of the Tamil hit Kaithi, starring Karthi and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.

Runway 34 (2022), which Devgn directed and also acted in alongside Amitabh Bachchan and Rakul Preet Singh, earned Rs 3 crore on its first day and had collected Rs 13 crore by the end of its first weekend, reported Bollywood Hungama.

Next up, the actor will be seen in Amit Sharma’s Maidaan, where he will play the role of football coach Syed Abdul Rahim. Even Bholaa ends with the promise of a sequel, and will possibly see Abhishek Bachchan playing the bad guy.
