The Accidental Prime Minister Trailer Talk: Movie On Manmohan Singh Blames It On Congress

It's raining propaganda films – and trailers. After the venom-spewing trailer of Thackeray, the trailer of The Accidental Prime Minister paints former PM Manmohan Singh as a victim of Congress' dynasty politics.

You won't have to read the newspaper everyday to tell that the people associated with this movie have strong allegiances to the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP). Anupam Kher, buried under prosthetics and speaking in a meek voice, plays the titular character, and the film is directed by Vijay Ratnakar Gutte, whose father was a candidate for the party in 2014.

The film is based on the book of the same name, which was written by Sanjay Baru, the media advisor to Singh during his tenure. Baru is played by Akshaye Khanna, who is also the narrator of the film.

Suzanne Bernert plays Sonia Gandhi, Aahana Kumra plays Priyanka Gandhi and Arjun Mathur plays Rahul Gandhi. It is produced by Jatinder Kumar Bharadwaj and Ashoke Pandit.

The film will release on January 11 – not too far from the general elections.
