That said, September promises to be yet another exciting month in the world of streaming with a wide range of stories. From a new tentpole Indian series from Netflix, to a small screen adaption of the Mission Mangal story, here are our picks of what’s releasing this month across platforms.


Bard Of Blood

When: September 27th

Netflix India’s next tentpole series is a cross-border action-thriller starring Emraan Hashmi, Sobhita Dhulipala and Vineet Singh as undercover RAW agents on a rescue mission behind enemy lines. Bard Of Blood is also the first original series to come out of the collaboration between the streaming giant and Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment and promises to be a tense race against time with plenty of gunfights along the way.

The Spy

When: September 6th 

There’s something distinctly exciting when largely comedic actors take a turn toward the serious. Based on the real-life story of notorious Mossad agent Eli Cohen, The Spy stars Sacha Baren Cohen as the man who ultimately changed the course of Israel’s history.

The Politician

When: September 27th

The latest satirical take on US politics takes us into the treacherous world of student elections. Ben Platt (Pitch Perfect) stars as a wealthy student who’s always dreamt of being President of the United States and is willing to go to any lengths to get there.

The I-Land

When: September 12th

A reality show gone wrong can quickly slip into horror territory. Netflix’s latest series sees 10 people wake up on a strange island with no memory and soon discover all is not as it seems. Think Lord Of The Flies meets The Truman Show and consider us intrigued.

The Mind, Explained

When: September 12th

Emma Stone narrates this illuminating docuseries which takes you through the human brain, exploring the science behind memory, dreams, anxiety, mindfulness, and more.

When: September 13th

Undone is a new trippy genre-bending animated series that follows twenty-eight-year-old Alma. After surviving a near-fatal car accident, she gains a new perspective on life and starts uncovering the truth about her father’s death.

Still Undone By Neville Shah

When: September 13th

After the success of his first Prime Video stand-up special, What Are You  Laughing At?, comedian Neville Shah returns with Still Undone which promises more of his signature foul-mouthed, hyper-personal brand of humour.

Niko And The Sword Of Light (Season 2B)

When: September 6th

Prime Video continues its streak of children’s content with the second season of Niko And The Sword Of Light. The Emmy award-winning animated series returns and sees the young hero on a new quest to defeat the forces of darkness.


Bless The Harts

When: September 30th

American TV sure does love its animated comedies about dysfunctional families. The latest addition to the roster is Bless The Harts, centred on a Southern family that’s broke and struggling to live the American dream of status and wealth. With all-star voice cast which includes Kristen Wig and Maya Rudolph, this one certainly has our attention.

The Deuce (Season 3)

When: September 10th

HBO’s acclaimed show about the birth of the porn industry returns for Season 3. The third season of the gritty drama starring James Franco and Maggie Gyllenhall explores the VHS takeover of the industry and the devastating impact of the AIDS epidemic.

American Horror Story: 1984 (Season 9)

When: September 19th

Season 9 of the anthology series that put horror television on the map will see a new set of characters and storylines. The latest season is said to be inspired by the slasher movies of the 80s and centres on a summer camp being plagued by a psychotic killer.

This Is Us (Season 4)

When: September 25th 

The beloved show which proved that emotionally-driven love stories and family dramas can be a lot more than merely a guilty pleasure returns for season 4 to give us new life goals on everything from relationships to marriage to parenting.

It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia (Season 14)

When: September 26th

Season 14 will officially make the celebrated comedy one of the longest-running live-action sitcoms in American television history. Starring the likes of Charlie Day and Danny DeVito, the wonderfully weird comedy shows no signs of slowing down and is rumoured to have been renewed for Season 15.

M.O.M Mission Over Mars

With a trailer that seems far more promising than that of its big-screen counterpart Mission Mangal (currently dominating the box office), M.O.M takes another approach at telling the now-infamous story of the women behind ISRO’s historic Mars mission.  With a cast comprising of Sakshi Tanwar, Mona Singh and Nidhi Singh among others, this may well be ALTBalaji’s most ambitious show yet. The show will also be available on ZEE5.

Coldd Lassi Aur Chicken Masala

When: September 3rd

Described as a ‘sweet and spicy romantic drama’ ALTBalaji’s new series follows Rajeev Khandelwal and Divyanka Tripathi as two aspiring chefs who fall in love and get married only to be torn apart and reunited again years later. The show will also be available on ZEE5.




When: September 18th

Bhram is a psychological thriller series which follows a female novelist suffering from PTSD who increasingly loses her grip on reality as fact and fiction begin to blur in her pursuit of a new story. The show offers an exciting cast consisting of Kalki Koechlin, Eijaz Khan, Sanjay Suri and Bhumika Chawla.

Jamai 2.0

When: September 10th

A ‘digital sequel’ to popular television series Jamai Raja, Jamai 2.0 is a romantic thriller starring Ravi Dubey, Nia Sharma and Achint Kaur. The series follows a family whose lives take an unexpected turn for the worst when a man with a dark past, enters their lives.

Kaale Dhande

When: September 24th

The Marathi series stars Mahesh Manjrekar, Nikhil Ratnaparkhi (OMG: Oh My God!), Trupti Khamkar (Tumhari Sulu) and Neha Khan (Uvaa, Ghayal: Once Again) among others in a rom-com centred on a love story gone wrong.
