Adapting Jon Favreau's 2014 film Chef in India is Airlift (2015) director Raja Krishna Menon. The film stars Saif Ali Khan playing the three Michelin star chef, Roshan Kalra while Svar Kamble plays his son, Ari. The trailer shows us a glimpse of a food truck – Raasta Café – going across the country making stops at Cochin, Goa, Amritsar and Delhi along the way. The journey begins in Cochin where Roshan's (Saif) ex-wife, Radha (played by Padmapriya) lives along with Ari. The father-son duo embark on a road trip cooking and serving dishes from the varied cuisines, giving the film a pan-Indian feel.

Talking about the appeal of the film, director Raja Krishna Menon, at the trailer launch event in Mumbai, said, "We have focussed on the father-son relationship from the original film and adapted it in a way that Indian audiences will connect to it." When Saif was asked about how he prepared for his role, he said, "I had training sessions for about a month so that I look comfortable in a kitchen. I think I must have chopped a million onions in the process!"

Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishna Kumar, Vikram Malhotra, Janani Ravichandran and Raja Krishna Menon, the film is slated to release on October 6.
