Cannes 2017: Aishwarya’s Style Game Is More Of The Same

Cannes 2017: Aishwarya’s Style Game Is More Of The Same

If the French names and the long trains leave you confused, we are breaking down the fashion choices of our leading ladies at Cannes this year.

THE LABEL: Ralph and Russo

HOW DO YOU SAY IT: Ralf and Roo-sow

WHO ARE THEY: Tamara Ralph and Michael Russo founded the label in 2006. Ralph & Russo was the first British brand to show at Paris Couture Week, and since became the first British couture house to join the French Chambre Syndicale. The label's magnificent red carpet-ready creations have internationally been sported by Rihanna, Kendall Jenner, Beyonce, Angelina Jolie amongst others.

In Bollywood, besides Sonam Kapoor who counts them as friends and one of her key favourite labels, almost every A-list actress including Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone and Kangana Ranaut has in the recent past been spotted wearing one of their sexy and modern gowns.

OUR SAY: Fashion-watching Aishwarya Rai Bachchan on the Cannes red carpet through the years is like following episodes of Friends. The lead actors may change hairstyles or go up and down in weight a little, the plot might even throw up a mild surprise every now and then, but the locations, premise and the easy laughs of the punch lines remain pretty much the same.

Episode 2 season 16 of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan at Cannes was comforting, because much didn't change really. We got to take in the show-stopping beauty of the Bollywood star, in the sublime backdrop of the French Riviera wearing another dramatic tulle, tiered and train-ed concoction, only this time in red. With the supple chandeliers, dark berry lips and loose waves Aishwarya brought a nonchalant sexiness to her whole look this time, and that we loved.
