Kichcha Sudeepa returns to the director's chair (Kannada) 

Earlier this year, actor Kichcha Sudeepa announced that he has confirmed his next three projects, with the first being a collaboration with producer Kalaipuli S Thanu. The actor has now joined hands with noted production house KRG Studios to direct and star in a film. The makers made an announcement on the occasion of Kichcha Sudeepa’s birthday. The announcement came with a motion poster, a tentative title, King Kichcha, and a tagline, “God forgives, but I don’t”. The film is produced by Karthik Gowda and Yogi G Raj. The shoot is set to commence in 2024. Sudeep returns to the director’s chair after ten years. He last directed 2014’s Manikya.

Kichcha46 gets an official title (Kannada)

On the occasion of his birthday, the makers of Kichcha Sudeepa’s next film Kichcha46 announced the official title. The film is now called Max. The announcement came with a title teaser, which shows Sudeep as a formidable force against a threat. No plot details have been revealed yet. The film was announced a few months ago with another teaser which showed Sudeep to be a violent man who massacres a group of gangsters. 

Max is directed by Vijay Kartikeyaa and is produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu under his V Creations banner. It is also presented by Sudeep’s Kichcha Creations banner. While no cast details have been revealed, Toby actor Samyuktha Hornad is set to play a prominent role in the film. Shekar Chandra lenses the film while B Ajaneesh Loknath provides the music, reuniting with Sudeep after Vikrant Rona.

Ganesh's Baanadariyalli gets a release date (Kannada) 

The makers of the Ganesh starrer Baanadariyalli have announced the release date of the film. The romantic comedy is all set to release on September 15. It was initially supposed to be out on March 17 along with the multistarrer Kabzaa, but was postponed. The film is directed by Preetham Gubbi, who collaborates with Ganesh for the fourth time after Maleyali Jotheyali, Dil Rangeela, and 99. The film also stars Rukmini Vasanth, who is fresh off the success of the Rakshit Shetty starrer Saptha Saagaradache Ello. Baandariyalli is written by Gubbi and Preetha Jayaraman. Abhilash Kalathi handles the cinematography while Arjun Janya scores the music.

Pawan Kumar's Lucia to re-release in theatres (Kannada) 

Director Pawan Kumar, who last directed the Fahad Faasil starrer Dhoomam, recently announced that his sophomore film Lucia would be re-released in theatres. On the occasion of its ten-year anniversary, Lucia will be re-released on September 6. The film was India’s first crowdfunded film and was completely shot on DSLRs. It was independently produced by Pawan Kumar through the Audience Films and Home Talkies banners.

Lucia stars Sathish Ninasam, Sruthi Hariharan, Balaji Manohar, Achyuth Kumar, and Rishab Shetty in pivital roles. The film had cinematography by Siddhartha Nuni and music by Poornachandra Tejaswi. Noted composer Santhosh Narayanan had joined as an additional composer but opted out of the film later. Narayanan composed the soundtrack of the Tamil remake Enakkul Oruvan.

Sivakarthikeyan's SK21 wraps Kashmir schedule (Tamil) 

The makers of Sivakarthikeyan’s next film, which is produced by Kamal Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Films International have announced that the film's first schedule in Kashmir has been wrapped. Tentatively titled SK21, the film is written and directed by Rajkumar Periyasami and also stars Sai Pallavi along with Sivakarthikeyan. The film is a collaboration between Haasan’s RKFI and Sony Pictures International Productions, who are making their debut in Tamil cinema. SK21 is produced by R Mahendran and has music by GV Prakash Kumar.

Priyanka Mohan and John Kokken wrap filming for Captain Miller (Tamil)

Actor Dhanush’s collaboration with Rocky director Arun Matheswaran, Captain Miller, is all set to release on December 15. The makers of the film have now announced that co-stars Priyanka Mohan and John Kokken have completed their portions for the film. The period film will see Dhanush play an outlaw who fights against the British. Priyanka Mohan’s character seems to be part of Dhanush’s gang while Kokken is hinted to be an antagonist.

Captain Miller is written and directed by Arun Matheswaran and is backed by Sendhil and Arjun Thyagarajan under Sathya Jyothi Films. The film also stars Dr. Shivarajkumar, Sundeep Kishan, Edward Sonnenblick, and Nassar. It has cinematography by Siddhartha Nuni and music by GV Prakash Kumar.

Kavin and director Elan unite for Star (Tamil) 

Actor Kavin is all set to collaborate with Pyar Prema Kadhal director Elan on the film Star. The film was launched earlier with actor Harish Kalyan. But it was shelved before Kavin replaced Kalyan as the protagonist. The makers have now announced that Yuvan Shankar Raja will be providing music for the film. On the occasion of Shankar Raja’s birthday, the makers released a promo for the film. Star is written and directed by Elan and is produced by BVSN Prasad and Sreenidhi Sagar under the SVCC and Rise Entertainments banner.

Vishal34 wraps its first schedule (Tamil) 

Actor Vishal is reuniting with director Hari for the third time in a film produced by Karthik Subbaraj. The film is tentatively titled Vishal34 and the team has announced that the first schedule has been wrapped. It also stars Priya Bhavani Shankar and Yogi Babu. The first schedule took place in Karakudi. The film is produced by Karthik Subbaraj under Stone Bench Productions and Zee Studios, with Devi Sri Prasad scoring the music.

Arya joins Venkatesh's Saindhav (Telugu) 

Venkatesh Daggubati is all set to star in Saindhav. The film is directed by HIT series fame Sailesh Kolanu. The makers of the film have now announced that Tamil actor Arya has joined the cast of the film. The team released a character poster where Arya is in formal attire while holding a gun. He plays a character called Manas.

Saindhav is produced by Venkat Boyanapalli under the banner Niharika Entertainments. The film also stars Shraddha Srinath, Andrea Jeremiah, Ruhani Sharma, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

Nagarjuna's next titled Naa Saami Ranga (Telugu) 

Adding to the long list of films that will hit the theatres for Sankranti is actor Nagarjuna’s Naa Saami Ranga. The action entertainer was announced by Srinivasaa Chitturi, who produced the film under his Srinivasaa Silver Screen banner. Along with the announcement poster, the makers released a title glimpse video.

Naa Saami Ranga is directed by choreographer turned director Vijay Binni, who makes his directorial debut. It is written by Prasanna Kumar Bezawaada and produced by Srinivasaa Chitturi. The film has music by Academy Award winner MM Keeravani. Naa Saami Ranga is all set to be released on Sankranti 2024.

Nagarjuna joins Dhanush's D51 (Telugu) 

Dhanush is all set to feature in his sophomore Telugu film with director Sekhar Kammula. Tentatively titled D51, the makers of the film announced that Nagarjuna will be joining the cast. Producers Suneil Narang and Puskur Ram Mohan Rao of Sri Venkateswara Cinemas LLP welcomed the actor on the occasion of his 64th birthday. D51 would be Dhanush’s second Telugu film after Venky Atluri’s Sir.

Nithiin's next with Venu Sriram gets a title (Telugu) 

Actor Nithiin is all set to collaborate with director Venu Sriram of Vakeel Saab fame. Produced by Dil Raju, the film is titled Thammudu and was launched recently with a formal puja ceremony. The ceremony was attended by director Anil Ravipudi who did the first clap and Varisu director Vamshi Paidipally who directed the first shot. Thammudu would be Nithiin’s third collaboration with producer Dil Raju, after Dil and Srinivasa Kalyanam.

Mohanlal starts shooting for Neru (Malayalam)

The makers of the Jeethu Joseph directorial Neru have announced that actor Mohanlal has started filming for the project. The actor recently wrapped the first schedule of his pan-Indian film Vrushabha. Neru also stars Priyamani, Anaswara Rajan, Ganesh Kumar, and Jagadish. Cinematographer Satheesh Kurup and music director Vishnu Shyam are also part of the technical crew. The film will be produced by Anthony Perumbavoor under his Aashirvad Cinemas banner.

Neru will be the fifth film in which Mohanlal and director Jeethu Joseph will be collaborating. Mohanlal had previously starred in Joseph’s critical and commercially successful film Drishyam. The landmark film was remade in many languages such as Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, and Tamil, the latter of which starred Kamal Hassan and was directed by Joseph. They reunited for Drishyam 2 which was released in 2021 to critical acclaim. The duo then collaborated on 12th Man. They have also made the two-part thriller film Ram, which is yet to release.

Indrans plays a detective in his next, Rani (Malayalam)

Actor Indrans, who recently won a Special Mentions National Award for Home, will be starring in a detective thriller titled Rani. The whodunit is directed by Shanker Ramakrishnan and stars Niyati Kadambi, Bhavana, Urvashi, Guru Somasundaram, Honey Rose, and Mala Parvathy. The film sees Indrans as a detective who investigates the murder of a politician, played by Somasundaram.

Rani is produced by Vinod Menon, Shanker Ramakrishnan, and Jimmy Jacob under the Magictail Works banner. Vinayak Gopal is the cinematographer while Mena Melath composes the music.

The first look of Mathew Thomas's Lovely is out (Malayalam)

The makers of the Mathew Thomas starrer Lovely have released the first look poster of the film. The poster shows Thomas standing in front of a giant housefly, which is reportedly named Lovely. The film is directed by Dileesh Karunakaran who makes a comeback after a long hiatus. Ashiq Abu produces the film along with making his debut as the cinematographer. The film also stars Manoj K Jayan, Radhika, Ashwati Manoharan, Ganga Meera, and KPAC Leela. Vishnu Vijay composes the music.

Makers of Nadikalil Sundari Yamuna recreate a classic song (Malayalam)

The team of the comedy film Nadikalil Sundari Yamuna has released a single called from the soundtrack. The song is a recreation of the classic Mohanlal song ‘Vellara Poomala Mele’. The original was sung by KJ Yesudas and was composed by Johnson. The song was part of the film Varavelpu which starred Mohanlal and Revathi, and was directed by Sathyan Anthikkad. The recreation by team Nadikalil Sundari Yamuna is composed by Arun Muraleedharan and is sung by Unni Menon.

Nadikalil Sundari Yamuna is directed by Vijesh Panathoor and Unni Vellara. The film stars Dhyan Srinivasan and Aju Varghese along with several newcomers. It is produced by Vilas Kumar and Simi Murali Kunnumpurathu under the banner of Cinematica Films LLP. It is all set to release on September 15.

Kunchacko Boban’s Chaver Team released a poster at the Puli Kali festival (Malayalam)

The makers of the Kunchacko Boban starrer Chaver released the poster of the film at the recently held Puli Kali festival at Thrissur. The poster was flaunted by several costumed tigers who participated in the festival. This marked the first time a film team promoted their film at the prestigious festival.

Chaver is directed by Tinu Papachan and stars Kunchacko Boban along with Arjun Ashokan and Anthony Varghese. Produced by Arun Narayan and Venu Kunnappilly, the film has cinematography by Jinto George and music by Justin Varghese.
