Shivarajkumar and Prabhu Deva are con men in the teaser of Karataka Damanaka (Kannada)

The much-awaited multi-starrer Karataka Damanaka is gearing up for release on March 8. The film stars both Dr Shivarajkumar and Prabhu Deva in lead roles and is directed by ace director Yograj Bhat. The makers of the film released a ‘character teaser’, which hints at Shivarajkumar and Prabhu Deva being con men who disguise themselves and enter a house.

Karataka Damanaka is directed by Yograj Bhat, who co-writes the film along with Vikas and Subramanya MK. The film is produced by Rockline Venkatesh under the Rockline Entertainments banner, and he also stars in a supporting role along with Priya Anand, Nishvika Naidu, Doddanna, and Tanikella Bharani. V Harikrishna handles the music while Santhosh Rai Pathaje cranks the camera.

Puneeth Rajkumar’s cult classic Jackie to re-release (Kannada)

While the late Puneeth Rajkumar previously graced the screens in 2022’s documentary Gandhada Gudi, he will be seen on the big screen yet again in the re-release of Jackie. The cult classic will reportedly be released in cinemas again on March 15. KRG Studios, the production and distribution house behind films such as Pailwaan, Dia, and Daredevil Mustafa are reportedly handling the re-release along with PRK Studios.

Jackie was written and directed by Suri and produced by Parvathamma Rajkumar under the Poornima Enterprises banner. The film also starred Bhavana Menon, Rangayana Raghu, Ravi Kale, and Harshika Poonacha in supporting roles. V Harikrishna handled the music while Yograj Bhat wrote the lyrics. Satya Hegde cranked the camera.

Darling Krishna’s Halagali launched (Kannada)

Darling Krishna’s next film after the successful Kausalya Supraja Rama and Sugar Factory is the historical drama Halagali. The film is reportedly set in the pre-Independence era before the 1857 Sepoy Mutiny and will see a rebellion against the British from villages in Karnataka. The film reportedly shows the villagers engaging in guerilla warfare against the British and will see Krishna play a warrior.

Halagali is written and directed by Sukesh DK and is backed by Kalyan Chakravarthy under the Duhara Movies banner. The film has music by Vasuki Vaibhav, cinematography by Dasaradhi Shivendra (Hanu Man, Mangalavaram), and action by Vikram Mor. The makers are reportedly filming in both Kannada and Telugu.

Upendra’s UI to receive its first single on March 4 (Kannada)

The first single from Upendra’s next directorial UI has already racked up anticipation due to its sensational lyrics. Titled ‘Cheap Song’, the promo of the single went viral due to its lyrics and has been awaited by fans for a long time. The song was supposed to be released on February 26, but the makers have now announced that ‘Cheap Song’ would be released on March 4. The announcement also said that it would be launched from the YouTube office in Mumbai.

UI is written and directed by Upendra, who also stars in the film. Achyuth Kumar, Murali Sharma, Reeshama Naniah, Sadhu Kokila, Sunny Leone, and Nidhi Subiah also feature in the film. It is backed by G Manoharan, Sreekanth KP, and Naveen Manoharan under the Lahari Films and Venus Entertainers banners. B Ajaneesh Loknath collaborates with Upendra for the first time as a music director. HC Venu handles the cinematography.

Tovino Thomas’ Anweshippin Kandethum gets an OTT release date (Malayalam)

Tovino Thomas’ investigative thriller Anweshippin Kandethum was released on February 9 to positive reviews. The makers have now announced that the film will be streaming on Netflix from March 8. The film follows the story of a cop who tries to solve two separate murder cases.

Anweshippin Kandethum is directed by debutant Darwin Kuriakose from a script by Jinu Abraham. It stars Siddique, Indrans, Shammy Thilakan, Baburaj, Vineeth Thattil, Ramya Suvi, Harisree Ashokan and Rahul Rajagopal. It is produced by Kuriakose along with his brother Dolwin Kuriakose under the Theater of Dreams banner. Gautham Shankar handles the cinematography while Santhosh Narayanan handles the music.

Vineeth Sreenivasan and Pranav Mohanlal create the perfect 'Mehfil' in Varshangalkku Shesham's first single

The makers of Vineeth Sreenivasan's next directorial Varshangalku Shesham released the film's first single. Titled 'Madhu Pakaroo', the song sees Pranav Mohanlal's character crooning at a 'mehfil' of sorts, where many musicians have gathered for a classical concert. The actor is seen drinking to his heart's content while also having a good time. The song is sung by Vineeth Sreenivasan himself as he provides the lyrics as well. Debutant Amrit Ramnath composes the music.

Varshangalkku Shesham is written and directed by Vineeth Sreenivasan and is backed by Visakh Subramaniam under the Merryland Cinemas banner. Amrit Ramnath handles the music while Viswajith Odukkathil handles the cinematogrophy. The film also stars Nivin Pauly, Dhyan Sreenivasan, Kalyani Priyadarshan, and more.

Joju George’s directorial Pani wraps filming (Malayalam)

After a 100-day shoot schedule, actor Joju George’s debut directorial Pani has reportedly wrapped filming. The actor took to social media to announce the same, with a group picture of the entire cast and crew. George stars, writes, and co-produces the film.

Pani is written and directed by Joju George and is backed by Sijo Vadakkan and Riaz Adam under the ADS Studios banner along with George’s Appu Pathu Pappu Production. The film also stars Rinosh George, Sagar Surya and Junaiz, Seema, Chandhini Sreedharan, Abhaya Hiranmayi, Abhinaya, Babu Namboothiri, Prashanth Alexander, Sujith Shanker, Ranjith Velayudhan, and Bitto Davis. Vishnu Vijay handles the music while Venu and Jinto George handle the cinematography.

Gautham Menon’s first look in Mammootty’s Bazooka is out (Malayalam)

The makers of Mammootty’s upcoming action film Bazooka recently released the character poster of actor Gautham Vasudev Menon. The actor/director reportedly plays the role of Benjamin Joshua. The actor sports a formal and tough look as he sits cross-legged in a car garage.

Directed by Deeno Dennis, in his directorial debut, the film also stars Sidharth Bharathan, Iswarya Menon, VK Prakash, Shine Tom Chacko, Bhama Arun, and Vasisht Umesh. The film is produced by Dolwin Kuriakose, Jinu V Abraham, Vikram Mehra, Sidharth, and Anand Kumar under the banners of Theatre of Dreams and Yoodlee Films. Midhun Mukundan provides the music while Nimish Ravi handles the camera.

Fahadh Faasil’s Aavesham gets its first single (Malayalam)

Fahadh Faasil’s next film will be Jithu Madhavan’s sophomore directorial Aavesham. The makers recently released the first single from the film. Titled ‘Jada’, the song is composed by Sushin Shyam and has vocals by actor Sreenath Bhasi. A mix of trap and hip-hop, the song features lyrics by Vinayak Sasikumar.

Aavesham is written and directed by Jithu Madhavan and is backed by Nazriya Nazeem and Anwar Rasheed under the Fahadh Faasil and Friends and Anwar Rasheed Entertainment banners. It also stars Mansoor Ali Khan, Sajin Gopu, and Ashish Vidhyarthi. Sushin Shyam composes the music while Sameer Thahir handles the cinematography.

Tamannaah Bhatia’s next is Odela 2 (Telugu)

Tamannaah Bhatia is all set to star in Odela 2. The title of the upcoming supernatural thriller was revealed today along with the poster of the film. The actress began shooting for the film in Kashi. Created by Sampath Nandi, Odela 2 is directed by Ashok Teja and is produced by D Madhu under the Madhu Creations and Sampath Nandi Teamworks banners. Soundar Rajan S handles the cinematography while B Ajaneesh Loknath handles the music.

Teja Sajja’s Hanu Man gets an OTT release date (Telugu)

After the success of the superhero fantasy film HanuMan, the makers of the film announced that it would begin streaming on Zee5 from March 8. The film received positive responses for its VFX and storyline, and found success despite competition from a stack of big releases. Director Prashanth Varma also announced that a sequel titled Jai Hanu Man had begun pre-production.

Hanu Man starred Teja Sajja, Amritha Aiyer, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, and Vinay Rai in lead roles. The film was backed by Kandagatla Niranjan Reddy under the Primeshow Entertainment banner. Dasaradhi Sivendra handled the cinematography while the music was handled by Anudeep Dev, GowraHari, and Krishna Saurabh.

Sree Vishnu’s next film launched (Telugu)

Actor Sree Vishnu is gearing up for the release of his next comedy Om Beem Bush. The actor also announced recently that he would be collaborating with Geetha Arts in his upcoming film. Titled SV18, the makers released a promotional video that sees Sree Vishnu receiving a puzzle from Geetha Arts, which results in an offer for his next film.

SV18 is written and directed by Caarthick Raju and is backed by Vidya Koppineedi, Bhanu Pratapa, and Riyaz Chowdary under the Geetha Arts and Kalya Films banners. The rest of the team is yet to be announced.

Saravanan and Varalaxmi joins the cast of Dhanush’s Raayan (Tamil)

The cast of actor Dhanush’s second directorial Raayan seems to be getting bigger by the day. In its first look, it was revealed that actors Kalidas Jayaram and Sundeep Kishan would be part of the film. In the coming weeks, Dhanush announced that actors Prakash Raj, Aparna Balamurali, Selvaraghavan, and SJ Suryah were also part of the film. Now, the actor has announced that Saravanan and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar will be part of the film in a pivotal role. 

Raayan is written and directed by Dhanush and is backed by Kalanithi Maaran under the Sun Pictures banner. AR Rahman handles the music while Om Prakash handles the cinematography.

Santhanam’s next title Inga Naan Thaan Kingu (Tamil)

Actor Santhanam has had a busy year in 2023 with three releases. The actor starred in the films DD Returns, Kick, and 80s Buildup in the previous year and already had a release earlier this month with Vadakkupatti Ramasamy. The actor will now be starring in the upcoming film Inga Naan Thaan Kingu.

Directed by Anand Narayan, Inga Naan Thaan Kingu had its first look poster released by the legendary actor Kamal Haasan. It is backed by Sushmita Anbuchezhian under the Gopuram Films banner. It is presented by GN Anbuchezhian and also stars late actor Manobala, Munishkanth, Priyalaya, Thambi Ramiah, and Vivek Prasanna. The film has music by D Imman and cinematography by Om Narayan.

Rajinikanth and Hindi producer Sajid Nadiadwala to unite for a project (Tamil)

Superstar Rajinikanth will reportedly be collaborating with prominent Hindi cinema producer Sajid Nadiadwala. The producer reportedly met Rajinikanth at his home in Chennai. He mentioned that he was excited to collaborate with the superstar.

While there has been no official update regarding what kind of project the duo will be collaborating on, speculations are rife about the two joining hands on a pan-Indian film. Rajinikanth currently has two films in the pipeline, with TJ Gnanavel’s Vettaiyan and Lokesh Kanagaraj's Thalaivar171 in production. Sajid Nadiadwala has produced a number of films under his Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment banner. He has made films such as the Housefull franchise, Kick, Baaghi, and Bawaal.
