Keerthy Suresh's Raghu Thatha gets a release date (Tamil)

The makers of Keerthy Suresh’s next film Raghu Thatha recently unveiled the release date of the film. The social drama will be released in cinemas on August 15, on the occasion of Independence Day. The previously released teaser indicated that the film would be about language and imposition.

Raghu Thatha is written and directed by debutant Suman Kumar. The film is backed by Vijay Kiragandur under Hombale Films. It also stars MS Bhasker and Devadarshini in supporting roles. Sean Roldan handles the music.

Suriya 44 begins filming in the Andamans (Tamil)

Karthik Subbaraj’s next film with Suriya is all set to start filming. The director announced on his social media handles that the film would be shot in the Andaman islands and the crew would begin a schedule there. The announcement came with a video that showed preparations for the island shoot.

Suriya 44 is written and directed by Karthik Subbaraj and is backed by Suriya and Jyothika under the 2D Entertainments banner. The film has Shreyas Krishna on the camera while Santosh Narayanan handles the music. The film’s tagline reads: Love, Laughter, and War.

Vijay Sethupathi's Maharaja gets a trailer (Tamil)

Vijay Sethupathi’s 50th film Maharaja recently received a teaser trailer. The film sees Sethupathi play an everyman who goes to the police station to lodge a complaint about a missing "Lakshmi". The police seem to be confused about the nature of the missing object and question his intentions as he goes to different stations. The trailer also shows a glimpse of Anurag Kashyap, who plays the villain.

Maharaja is directed by Nithilan Swaminathan and is backed by Sudhan Sundaram and Jagadish Palanisamy under the Passion Studios and The Route banners. The film also stars Mamta Mohandas, Abhiraami, Munishkanth, and more. Ajaneesh Loknath handles the music while Dinesh Purushothaman handles the cinematography.

Vasanth Ravi's Weapon gets a release date (Tamil)

The Vasanth Ravi starrer Weapon is all set to release in cinemas on June 7. The makers announced that the sci-fi action film will hit theatres on the date. The film also stars Sathyaraj and has an ensemble cast including Tanya Hope, Yaashika Anand, Rajeev Menon, Mime Gopi, and Baradwaj Rangan.

Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2: The Rule gets its second single (Telugu)

The makers of the upcoming action entertainer Pushpa 2: The Rule have released the second single from the album. ‘Sooseki’ is a romantic number sung by Shreya Ghoshal and composed by Devi Sri Prasad. Chandrabose provided the lyrics. The song was accompanied by a lyrical video.

Dulquer Salman's Lucky Baskhar gets a new release date (Telugu)

The makers of Dulquer Salman’s next Telugu film Lucky Baskhar have postponed the release date. Initially slated to release in July, the makers have now announced that the heist film will be released on September 27.

Lucky Baskhar is written and directed by Venky Atluri and is backed by Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya under the Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas banners. The film also stars Meenakshi Chaudhary. GV Prakash Kumar handles the music while Nimish Ravi handles the cinematography.

Keerthy Suresh joins Kalki 2898 AD as Bujji (Telugu)

The makers of the upcoming sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD recently unveiled the character teaser of Bujji, the automated robot assistant of Prabhas’ Bhairava. The teaser sees the sarcastic robot deliver one-liners while also helping Bhairavi in his adventures. The robot is reportedly voiced by Keerthy Suresh. Amazon Prime Video also released two animated episodes of Bujji & Bhairavi, a prelude series to the film.

Kalki 2898 AD is written and directed by Nag Ashwin and is backed by Ashwani Dutt under the Vyjayanthi Movies banner. The film has an ensemble cast of Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, Disha Patani, and Pasupathy. Djordje Stojiljkovic handles the cinematography while Santhosh Narayanan handles the music.

First look at Vennela Kishore's Srikakulam Sherlockholmes is out (Telugu) 

After the success of his spy comedy Chaari111, Vennela Kishore will be headlining another comedy Srikakulam Sherlockholmes. The makers released the motion poster of the film which sees Kishore wearing traditional detective attire while sitting in his den looking through clues.

Srikakulam Sherlockholmes is written and directed by Writer Mohan and is backed by Vennapusa Ramana Reddy under the Sri Ganapthi Cinemas banner. Mallikarjun Nargajani handles the camera while Avinash Gurlinka composes the music.

Parvathy's Ullozhukku to release on this date (Malayalam)

Actress Parvathy will be next seen in the upcoming film Ullozhukku. The actress announced the release date of the film through her social media handles. Ullozhukku will be released on June 21. The film also stars Urvashi.

Pranav Mohanlal and Dhyan Sreenivasan star in the film as two friends who embark on a journey to make it in the Tamil film industry.

Basil Joseph and Nazriya join Sookshma Darshini (Malayalam) 

After starring in Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil, Basil Joseph has announced his next with director MC Jithin called Sookshma Darshini. The actor will be sharing the screen with Nazriya in the film which is set to be a comedy. The film also stars Deepak Parambol, Sidharth Bharathan, Merin Philp, Akhila Bhargavan, and Pooja Mohanraj among others. The film is produced by Sameer Thahir, Shyju Khalid, and A V Anoop under the Happy Hours Entertainments and AVA Productions banners.

Malayalam actor Jayaram joins the cast of Kantara: Chapter 1 (Kannada)

After making his Kannada debut with Shivarajkumar’s Ghost, actor Jayaram has reportedly been cast in a pivotal role in Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: Chapter 1. The fantasy film was announced last year as a prequel to the 2022 blockbuster Kantara. Jayaram has a slate of high-profile films, such as GOAT and Raayan.

Kantara: Chapter 1 is directed by Rishab Shetty from a script written by Anirudh Mahesh and Shanil Guru. Vijay Kiragandur backs it under the Hombale Films banner. B Ajaneesh Loknath is set to return as the music director of the film while Arvind Kashyap cranks the camera again.
