Prajwal Devaraj announces his 40th film (Kannada)

Despite having a huge lineup of films, actor Prajwal Devaraj recently announced his next film, which would be his 40th. The yet-to-be-titled film is directed by Gurudatha Ganiga, known for Ambi Ning Vayas Aytho. The announcement came with a poster that shows Prajwal standing against a giant buffalo, seemingly alluding to a man-animal conflict.

Priyanka Upendra’s next film gets a title (Kannada)

Priyanka Upendra is all set to collaborate with director Lohith H for the third time in her next film. The film is titled Capture and the announcement was made at a special event which was attended by Upendra and Prajwal Devaraj. Lohith and Priyanka had joined hands before in Mummy - Save Me and Devaki. Capture is said to be a found-footage film, with the CCTV format used to present the film. The film is produced by Ravi Raj under Shri Durgaparameshwari Productions and is aiming for a November release.

Vikram’s Thangalaan to get a teaser soon (Tamil)

Chiyaan Vikram is all set to collaborate with Pa Ranjith on the film Thangalaan. The film is a period film set in Kolar Gold Fields in pre-independent India. GV Prakash Kumar, who is composing music for the film, recently announced that an extraordinary teaser would be out soon. The film also stars Parvathi Thiruvothu, Malavika Mohanan, Daniel Caltagirone, and Pasupathy. It is backed by Studio Green and Neelam Productions. No release date has been announced yet.

Karthi’s Japan gets teaser (Tamil)

The makers of Karthi’s upcoming film Japan have released the first teaser of the film. The video shows Karthi as the titular character Japan, a criminal who has successfully pulled off a heist. It also stars Sunil, KS Ravikumar, Vijay Milton, and Anu Emmanuel. The film is directed by Raju Murugan and is produced by SR Prabhu under Dream Warrior Pictures. The film has music by GV Prakash Kumar, while Ravi Varman handles the cinematography. The film is set to release during Diwali.

Koozhangal gets a streaming release date (Tamil)

PS Vinothraj’s Koozhangal or Pebbles is all set to premiere on Sony LIV on October 27. The film was India’s official entry to the 94th Academy Awards 2022 and won the Tiger Award at the International Film Festival of Rotterdam. The film is produced by Vignesh Shivan and Nayanthara under the Rowdy Pictures Banner.

Vijay Devarkonda’s film with Parasuram Petla gets a title (Telugu)

Vijay Devarakonda, who was last seen in the romance Kushi, is reuniting with Geetha Govindam director Parasuram Petla. The film, which was called VD13 until now, has been christened with the title Family Star. The film sees Devarakonda as a family man who is also a badass. The theme seems to be an exploration of masculinity. It also features Mrunal Thakur, who makes an appearance at the end. The film is all set to release on Sankranthi 2024.

Family Star is written and directed by Parasuram Petla. It is backed by Dil Raju & Sirish under the Sree Venkateswara Creations banner. Gopi Sundar composes the music while KU Mohanan acts as the cinematographer.

Arjun Sarja’s Virunnu gets a new poster (Tamil)

Arjun Sarja, who was last seen in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Leo, recently released the poster of his new film Virunnu. Touted to be another action film, the ‘Action King’ is seen punching a henchman holding a machete, in what looks like a shed. The film is directed by Thamara Kannan and will be a Tamil and Malayalam bilingual. Gireesh Neyyar produced the film under his Neyyar Films banner, with Rathish Vega handling the music, and Pradeep Nair and Ravi Chandran handling the cinematography.


Tharun Bhascker’s Keedaa Cola gets a trailer (Telugu)

Tharun Bhascker returns to the director’s chair after five years with the crime comedy Keedaa Cola. The director was last seen in the cult hit Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi and had only directed a segment in the Netflix anthology Pitta Kathalu. The makers of Keedaa Cola recently released the trailer of the film.

Keedaa Cola is a crime caper film that has multiple storylines and characters interlinking each other. The film stars Brahamanandam, Raghu Ram, Ravindra Vijay, Jeevan Kumar, Vishnu, Tharun Bhascker, Chaitanya Rao Madadi, Rag Mayur, and more. The film is presented by Rana Daggubati and has Vivek Sagar handling the music and AJ Aron handling the cinematography. The film is set to release on November 3.

Varun Tej’s Operation Valentine wraps up shooting (Telugu)

The makers of Varun Tej and Manushi Chillar’s next film Operation Valentine recently announced that filming had been wrapped. The film is a Telugu-Hindi bilingual and is directed by Shakthi Prathap Singh Hada, an ad-filmmaker, who has also written and shot the action film. It is said to be set against an Air Force backdrop. The film is set to release on December 8 and is backed by Sony Pictures International Productions, and Sandeep Mudda of Renaissance Pictures, along with Nandakumar Abbineni and God Bless Entertainment.

Shane Nigam’s next gets a release date (Malayalam)

The Shane Nigam and Sunny Wayne starrer Vela will be released in theatres on November 10. The makers recently announced the release date of the thriller. It is directed by Syam Sasi from a script by Sajas. The film is said to be based on actual events and also features Sidharth Bharathan in a prominent role. The film has cinematography by Suresh Rajan, with cinematography by Sam CS. S George produces the film under the Cyn-Cyl Celluloid banner while Dulquer Salman’s Wayfarer Films is presenting it.

First glance of Tovino’s Anveshippin Kandethum is out (Malayalam)

The makers of Tovino Thomas’ upcoming procedural thriller Anveshippin Kandethum released the ‘first glance’ teaser of the film. The teaser shows various visual elements such as a burning scarecrow, a police dog, a case file, a magnifying glass, and a train, which culminate in a shot of Tovino Thomas as a police officer. The film is directed by Darwin Kuriakose from a script by Jinu V Abraham. 

The film also features Siddique, Indrans, Shammy Thilakan, and Baburaj. Backed by Darwin and Dolwin Kuriakose under the Theatre of Dreams banner, the film has music by Santhosh Narayanan, cinematography by Gautham Sankar, and editor Saiju Sreedharan.

Nivin Pauly to make his web series debut (Malayalam)

Actor Nivin Pauly is all set to make his web series debut with the Disney+Hotstar series Pharma. While no details regarding the plot have been revealed, the series is said to be a thrilling drama. The series is directed by PR Arun of Finals fame. This would be the second time Pauly would be collaborating with the streaming platform after the film Kanakam Kaamini Kalaham, which was a direct-OTT release.

Pharma also stars Rajit Kapoor, Narain, Shruthi Ramachandran, and Veena Nandakumar. The series has music by Jakes Bejoy and cinematography by Abhinandan Ramanujam.
