Vijay Devarakonda announces next two films (Telugu)

On the occasion of his birthday, actor Vijay Devarakonda announced two films. The actor was last seen in the drama Family Star and will be seen in Gowtham Tinnanuri’s next film. He announced VD14, which is touted to be a period drama. The announcement came with a poster that saw a stone inscription of a warrior. It is directed by Rahul Sankrityan and is backed by Naveen Yerneni and Y Ravi Shankar under the Mythrie Movie Makers banner.

Devarakonda also announced the film SVC59, which is directed by Ravi Kiran Kola and is backed by Raju and Shirish under the Sri Venkateswara Creations banner. The announcement came with a poster that sees the image of a hand wielding a sword amidst a bloody red backdrop.

Vishwak Sen’s Gangs of Godavari gets a new release date (Telugu)

The makers of Vishwak Sen’s next film Gangs of Godavari have announced the release date of the film. The film was supposed to release on May 17, however, the release has now been postponed to May 31. Vishwak Sen took to his social media to announce the news and mentioned that it was the same date that his directorial debut Falaknuma Das was released.

Gangs of Godavari is written and directed by Krishna Chaithanya and is backed by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya under the Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas banner. The film also stars Neha Sshetty, Anjali, and Nasser. Yuvan Shankar Raja handles the music while Anith Madadi handles the cinematography.

Prabhas joins the sets of Kannappa (Telugu)

The Vishnu Manchu-starrer Kannappa has been in filming for several years. The period drama is reportedly based on a true story and even had Akshay Kumar make an appearance. Now, actor Prabhas has reportedly joined the sets for a brief appearance in the film. It was reported that he would be playing the role of Lord Vishnu in the film. Kannappa is directed by Mukhesh Kumar Singh and is produced by Mohan Babu.

Prithviraj and Basil Joseph’s Guruvayoorambala Nadayil gets a trailer (Malayalam)

The makers of Prithviraj Sukumaran and Basil Joseph’s Guruvayoorambala Nadayil released a new trailer for the film. The film sees the duo play a prospective groom and his bride’s brother. Prithviraj is hinted to be an eccentric man who is obsessed with getting the right man for his sister while Joseph seems to be frustrated with the marriage.

Guruvayoorambala Nadayil is directed by Vipin Das who previously helmed Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey. The film is written by Deepu Pradeep and is backed by Supriya Menon, Mukhesh Mehta, and CV Sarathi under the Prithviraj Productions and E4 Entertainments banners. Neeraj Revi handles the cinematography while Ankit Menon handles the music. The film is set to release on May 16.

Naslen joins Abhinav Sunder Nayak for Mollywood Times

After the success of Premalu, actor Naslen K Gafoor seems to have a lot of films on his slate. Apart from the sequel to the romantic comedy and a film with Khalid Rahman, the actor has now signed on Abhinav Sunder Nayak’s next film Mollywood Times. Nayak made his debut with the Vineeth Sreenivasan starrer Mukundan Unni Associates. The film, which is touted as a ‘Hate Letter to Cinema’, is backed by Ashiq Usmaan under the Ashiq Usmaan Productions banner. 

Jakes Bejoy on board to compose for Mohanlal’s L360 (Malayalam)

Mohanlal is currently filming his 360th film with director Tharun Moorthy. The film is known to have brought back actress Shobhana from her sabbatical as she was last seen in the 2020 film Varane Avashyamund. The makers have now announced that the film will see Jakes Bejoy compose the music and background score for the film.

L360 is written by KR Sunil and Tharun Moorthy. It also stars Binu Pappu, Farhan Faasil, and Thomas Mathew. M Renjith produces the film under the Rejaputhra Visual Media banner.

Sundeep Kishen’s Maayaone gets a teaser (Tamil)

The makers of the Sundeep Kishen starrer Maayaone recently released a teaser for the film. A direct sequel 2017’s Maayavan, the sci-fi thriller sees Sundeep’s character Kumaran tackling a larger villain, who is played by Neil Nitin Mukesh. The film seems to build on the teleportation concept of the original.

Maayaone is directed by CV Kumar and is backed by Rambrahmam Sunkara under the AK Entertainments banner. The film also stars Akanksha Ranjan Kapoor. Karthik K Pillai handles the cinematography while Santhosh Narayanan handles the music.

Dhanush’s Raayan gets its first single (Tamil)

Dhanush is all set to return to the director’s chair with the crime drama Raayan. The makers of the film released the first single from the movie. Titled ‘Adangatha Asuran’, the song features vocals from Dhanush and AR Rahman, with the latter also composing the music. The song seems to be a ritualistic number with heavy beats and a tribal melody. Dhanush himself wrote the lyrics while Prabhu Deva choreographed the number.

Raayan is directed by Dhanush and is backed by Kalanithi Maaran under the Sun Pictures banner. The film also stars Dushara Vijayan, Aparna Balamurali, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Kalidas Jayaram, Sundeep Kishen, SJ Suryah, Prakash Raj, and more. AR Rahman handles the music while Om Prakash handles the cinematography. The film is set to release on June 13.

Silambarasan joins the cast of Kamal Haasan’s Thug Life (Tamil)

Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam are all set to collaborate on a new film after almost three decades. The film, titled Thug Life seems to be a crime saga much like their previous affair Nayagan. While the film had announced its supporting cast of Jayam Ravi and Dulquer Salman, who seem to have opted out of the film, the makers announced the inclusion of Silambarasan TR with a short teaser.

Thug Life is directed by Mani Ratnam, who co-writes the film along with Kamal Haasan. It is backed by Ratnam’s Madras Talkies and Haasan’s RKFI banners. Trisha Krishnan, Abhirami, and Joju George star in the film. AR Rahman handles the music while Ravi K Chandran cranks the camera.

Thalavan gears up for release; Promo song out

The promo song of Jis Joy's 'Thalavan' has been released. The song, written by director Jis Joy himself, is composed by Deepak Dev and sung by Anand Sreeraj. The film, featuring the epic hit combo of Biju Menon and Asif Ali, tells the story of two police officers in different ranks, and the problems between them. The thriller is produced by Arun Narayan and Sijo Sebastian under the banner of Arun Narayan Productions in association with London Studios. This is Arun Narayan's new venture after films such as 'Eesho' and 'Chaaver'. The film is all set to hit theatres on May 24th.

New song from 'Sureshanteyum Sumalathayudeyum Hridayahariyaaya Pranayakatha' out

The new song from the Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval directorial Sureshanteyum Sumalathayudeyum Hridayahariyaaya Pranayakatha is out. The song titled 'Premalola' is written by Vaisakh Sugunan and is composed by Dawn Vincent. Popular composer Sushin Shyam has crooned this foot-tapping melody. Rajesh Madhavan and Chithra Nair, known faces to Malayalee audience play the lead roles in the film, which is touted to be a spin-off of the director's previous film Nnaa Thaan Case Kodu. Kunchacko Boban too features in a cameo in the film. Apart from them, several other veteran artistes such as Sudheesh Kozhikode, Jinu Joseph, Saranya, M Thamban, Babu Annoor, Ajith Chandra, Lakshmanan, Aneesh Chempazhanthy, Beena Kodakkad, Shyni, Thushara etc are also a part of the film.
