The Jayam Ravi starrer Agilan is all set to release on March 10 as revealed by the actor on his social media. Last seen in Ponniyin Selvan 1, Ravi plays the role of a harbour worker-turned-gangster in Agilan. The crime film also stars Priya Bhavani Shankar, Tanya Ravichadran and Harish Uttaman.
The film is directed by Kalyana Krishnan and is produced by Screen Scene Media Entertainment. The technical crew of the film includes Sam CS on music and Vivek Anand Santhosam on camera.
The Prabhu Deva starrer Bagheera has been long delayed. But the makers finally announced the release date of the psychological thriller. The film will be released on March 3, with the audio and trailer to be launched on February 25.
The film directed by Adhik Ravichandran also stars a number of female actors such as Amyra Dastur, Gayathrie Shankar, Sanchita Shetty, Ramya Nambeesan and others. Produced by Bharathan Pictures, the film has music by Ganesan Sekar, cinematography by Selvakumar SK and Abhinandan Ramanujam, and editing by Ruben. Prabhu Deva is expected to play a serial killer targeting women.
Pa.Ranjith’s period drama Thangalaan just added a new cast member. British actor Daniel Caltagirone joins the cast of the Chiyaan Vikram starrer. The actor is known for his roles in Roman Polanski’s The Pianist, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider - The Cradle of Life and Danny Boyle’s The Beach. The news was announced by the makers, welcoming the actor to the cast as well as to social media.
The period film is set in pre-Independent India, in the Kolar Gold Fields. The film is written and directed by Pa.Ranjith, who also co-produces the film under his Neelam Productions banner along with KE Gnanavelraja under Studio Green. Music composer GV Prakash Kumar collaborates with Pa.Ranjith for the first time, with Kishore Kumar and Selva RK joining as cinematographer and editor respectively. The film also stars Pasupathy, Malavika Mohanan and Parvathy Thiruvothu.
The team behind the 2016 horror comedy Jackson Durai are reuniting for another film. Titled Jackson Durai: The Second Chapter, the horror thriller is directed by Dharanidharan, who also directed the original. Despite the title, the makers maintain that it is not a sequel and that the title has just been retained as the sequel, too, is set in Pre-Independent India.
Sathyaraj and Sibiraj, the father-son duo who were in the original, also return for the Second Chapter. The film also stars Samyuktha Vishwanathan, Mani HK and Sharath Ravi. The technical crew of the film includes Siddharth Vipin on music and Kalyan Venkatraman on camera.
The first look of Hip Hop Tamizha Aadhi’s superhero film Veeran has been released. The makers announced the film on their social media handles through a poster. The poster shows Aadhi’s superhero as well as civilian identity, with shards of lightning emerging from his hands.
The film is directed by ARK Saravanan of Maragadha Naanayam fame and is produced by Sendhil and Arjun Thyagarajan along with Sathya Jyothi Films. The film also stars Munishkanth and Kaali Venkat. Hip Hop Tamizha scores the music while Deepak D Menon handles the camera. The film is gearing up for a summer release.
SS Rajamouli’s epic film RRR adds another feather in its cap. The historic action film has been having a dream run in the West with Golden Globe wins and Oscar nominations for Best Original Song. This time, actors Ram Charan and NTR Jr. get nominations at the Critic’s Choice Super Awards. They share the list with Hollywood biggies such as Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise and Nicholas Cage. The film also won four awards at the Hollywood Critics Associations ceremony.
Prabhas’ much awaited science fiction film Project K has finally locked on a release date. The makers have announced that the film will be released on January 12th, 2024. Along with Prabhas, the film stars Deepika Padukone (in her Telugu debut) and Amitabh Bachchan.
Directed by Nag Ashwin of Mahanati fame, Project K is touted to be set in a futuristic world with a dystopian backdrop. The director reunites with cinematographer Dani Sanchez-Lopez and music composer Mickey J Meyer. The film is produced by C.Ashwini Dutt. Apart from Project K, Prabhas has Adipurush, which will be releasing this year and Prashanth Neel’s Salaar in the pipeline.
Actor Sai Dharam Tej announced that he would be collaborating with his uncle Pawan Kalyan on a project directed by actor Samuthirakani. The yet-to-be titled film is said to be a remake of the director’s own Vinodhaya Sitham (2021).
Pawan Kalyan and Sai Dharam Tej are uniting for the first time. The film is being produced by Vishwa Prasad TG and Vivek Kuchibhotla under their banner People Media Factory along with Zee Studios. Samuthirakani has been seen in many Telugu films such as Bheemla Nayak, RRR, Godfather and others. This is his third Telugu directorial after Shambho Shiva Shambho and Janda Pai Kapiraju.
Actor Akhil Akkineni’s collaboration with director Surender Reddy, Agent is all set to release on April 28. To promote the film, the makers have released the first single from the film. Titled ‘Malli Malli’, the lyrical video features Akhil and lead actress Sakshi Vaidya in picturesque locations. The song is composed by Hiphop Tamizha. It was launched on Twitter by Akhil’s fan page and the actor then interacted with the fans on the social media site.
The makers AK Entertainments are all set to release the film in five languages, making it a pan-India project. The film is written by Vakkantham Vamsi and is produced by Ramabrahmam Sankara.
On the occasion of Dr. Shivarajkumar’s 37 years in the Kannada industry on 18th February, the makers announced the beginning of Bhairathi Ranagal. The actor shared a poster of the film, confirming speculations about his reunited collaboration with director Narthan. The makers have said that it is a prequel to Mufti, centred around the character played by Shivarajkumar in the film.
The announcement comes amidst speculations that director Narthan would be collaborating with Yash in his next. While that has not been confirmed yet, the director had promised fans back in 2021 that Bhairathi Ranagal would be happening. The film is produced under the Geetha Pictures banner who also produced the actor’s previous and 125th film Veda.
Meghana Raj Sarja released the first look of the film Tatsama Tadbhava on her social media handles. The investigative thriller is directed by Vishal Atreya and will be a Kannada-Malayalam bilingual. Actor and director Pannaga Bharana debuts as a producer under the banner PBStudios4. Actor Prajwal Devaraj is touted to have an important role in the film.
The poster of the film reveals that it is an investigative thriller with the tagline, ‘The Confession’. The makers have revealed that this will be the first chapter of the film. The film has music by Vasuki Vaibhav and is being released by Karthik Gowda’s KRG Studios.
The teaser for Dhruva Sarja's Pan-Indian action blockbuster Martin was released on 23rd February. The actor was last seen in the controversial Pogaru and is seen continuing his streak in the action genre. Written by Action King Arjun Sarja, the film is set in a prison in Pakistan. A voice over announces the arrival of a cruel and violent prisoner being transferred. "And the most dangerous thing is… he's Indian," says a General.
The rest of the two-and-a-half minute teaser shows the various action set pieces.It also introduces the characters that will be played by Nikitin Dheer, Anveshi Jain, Achyuth Kumar and Malavikaa Avinash. Martin is directed by AP Arjun and is produced by Uday K Mehta under Vasavi Enterprises.
The Senna Hegde directorial Padmini wrapped its shoot. Starring Kunchako Boban and Aparna Balamurali, the announcement was made by the latter on her Instagram. The film also features Madonna Sebastian.
The film is written by Deepu Pradeep of Kunjiramayanam fame. The technical crew includes frequent Senna Hegde collaborator Sreeraj Raveendran on camera and Jakes Bejoy on music. The film is produced by Prasobh Krishna and Suvin K Varkey of Little Big Films.
The makers of Saubin Shahir’s Ayalvaashi announced that the film will be released on April 21. The comedy is written and directed by Irshad Parari and is produced by Ashiq Usman and Muhsin Parari.
The film also stars Binu Pappu, Swathi Das Prabhu and Lijomol Jose among others. Jakes Bejoy composes the music while Sajith Purushan is the cinematographer.
The Dulquer Salmaan starrer King of Kotha wrapped up shooting this week. The news was revealed by Salman with a video on his social media handles. The gangster thriller filmed for 95 days in Karaikudi and wrapped up on 21st February. The film is directed by Abhilash Joshiy and produced by Salman under the Wayfarer Films banner along with Zee Studios. The makers are expecting an Onam release.
