Vikram’s film with SU Arun Kumar gets a title (Tamil)

On the occasion of Vikram’s birthday, the makers of Chiyaan62 officially announced the title. Titled Veera Dheeran Sooran, the announcement came with a teaser that sees Vikram as a grocery store owner who has a violent side to him.  A gang of rivals plan to attack him and wait for confirmation while Vikram begins to retaliate.

Veera Dheeran Sooran was written and directed by SU Arun Kumar, who last helmed Chittha. The film is backed by Riya Shibu under the HR Pictures banner. SJ Suryah, Dushara Vijayan, and Sooraj Venjaramoodu also star in the film. Theni Eshwar handles the cinematography while GV Prakash Kumar handles the music.

Prem Kumar pays a cop in his next (Kannada)

Prem Kumar, who is known for his romantic comedies is reportedly undergoing a rebranding. The actor will be playing a cop in his next, which is touted to be an action entertainer. Currently titled PK28, the film is written and directed by Thejesh BK. The announcement came with a poster that sees an armed Prem Kumar standing inside a police station as a riot takes place in front of him.

PK28 is backed by Geethanjanli S under the Pentrix Entertainments banner. The film also stars Rangayana Raghu, with the rest of the cast set to be announced soon. Vasuki Vaibhav handles the music while Anand Meenakshi handles the cinematography.

Mammootty’s Turbo gets a release date (Malayalam)

Mammootty’s next film will be the action entertainer Turbo. The makers of the film announced that it would be released in cinemas on June 13. The announcement came with a new poster where the star is seen sitting on top of a jeep while a fair happens around him.

Turbo is directed by Vysakh and written by Midhun Manuel Thomas. The film also stars Raj B Shetty, Sunil, and Anjana Jayaprakash. It is backed by Mammootty’s production house Mammootty Kampany and will be distributed by Dulquer Salman’s Wayfarer Films. The film has music by Justin Varghese.

KRG Studios announce the ensemble cast of Uttarakanda (Kannada)

Two years after its announcement, the upcoming crime drama Uttarakanda began filming earlier this week. The Rohit Padakki directorial stars Dhananjaya in the lead and has an ensemble of supporting characters. The makers of the film announced the huge cast for the crime drama. Apart from Shivarajkumar, the film also features Chaithra J Achar, Diganth Manchale, Vijay Babu, and Rangayana Raghu in pivotal roles. Each announcement with a character name.

Uttarakanda: Prologue is written and directed by Rohit Padakki, who previously helmed the drama Rathnan Prapancha. The film is backed by Karthik Gowda and Yogi G Raj under the KRG Studios banner. Advaitha Gurumurthy handles the cinematography while Amit Trivedi composes the music.

Kiara Advani joins the cast of Yash’s Toxic (Kannada)

While it was previously reported that Kareena Kapoor had joined Yash’s Toxic, the actress has reportedly walked out of the project due to date issues. The gangster drama has reportedly roped in Kiara Advani for the role instead, which will mark her Kannada debut. The actress was last seen in Satyaprem Ki Katha.

Toxic is written and directed by Geetu Mohandas and is backed by KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations. The film is Yash’s follow-up to KGF: Chapter 2 and will also reportedly be a pan-Indian scale film. Rajeev Ravi handles the cinematography. Shine Tom Chacko and Nawazuddin Siddiqui are also reportedly a part of the cast.

Noted actor and producer Dwarakish passes away at 81 (Kannada)

Comedy actor and producer Dwarakish reportedly passed away at the age of 81. The veteran actor reportedly complained of respiratory problems before passing away in his sleep. The actor reportedly resided in Electronic City and passed away due to age-related ailments.

Dwarakish was known for his comedic roles and collaborations with star Dr Vishnuvardhan. The duo worked on multiple films including Kittu Puttu, Singapoorinalli Raaja Kulla, Prachanda Kulla, Guru Shishyaru, Indina Ramayana, Aapthamithra, and more. Dwarakish also produced most of these films under his production banner Dwarakish Chithra.

Nayanthara joins Nivin Pauly’s next film (Malayalam)

Nivin Pauly and Nayanthara are all set to reunite on the big screen with the film Dear Students. Helmed by debutants Sandeep Kumar and George Philip Roy, the makers announced the actress’ inclusion earlier this week. The film sees the duo reunite after Love Action Drama. Nayanthara was last seen in Malayalam cinema in Alphonse Puthiren’s Gold. Dear Students is backed by Nivin Pauly under his Pauly Jr. Pictures.

Shobana joins Mohanlal’s L360 (Malayalam)

Actress Shobhana announced that she would be returning to cinema after four years with Mohanlal’s next film L360. Taking to social media to announce the news, Shobhana mentioned that she would be collaborating with the star for the 56th time and that she was excited to be a part of films again. Shobhana was last seen in Varane Avashyamund. L360 will be helmed by Tharun Murthy and is backed by M Renjith under the Rejaputhra Visual Media.

Girish AD announced Premalu 2 (Malayalam)

After the box office success of the romantic comedy Premalu, director Girish AD announced that the makers would be working on a sequel. The film recently gained more hype after it was released for streaming on Disney+ Hotstar. The sequel, Premalu 2, also received a poster that sees a claymated skyline of Rajasthan.

Premalu is directed by Girish AD and is backed by Dileesh Pothan, Syam Pushkaran, and Fahadh Faasil under the Bhavana Studios and Fahadh Faasil and Friends production banners. The film starred Naslen and Mamitha Baiju, who are expected to return for the sequel. The sequel will also be released in Tamil and Telugu.

Kavin’s Star gets a release date (Tamil)

Actor Kavin is all set to return to the big screen with Star. The makers of the film announced that the movie would be released in cinemas on May 10. The announcement came with a poster that sees Kavin standing next to a bike in front of a building that has the release date plastered on it. The film also stars Lal, Aaditi Pohankar, and Preity Mukundan.

Star is written and directed by Elan and is backed by BVSN Prasad and Srenidhi Sagar under the Sri Venkateswara Cine Chithra banner. Yuvan Shankar Raja composes music for the film which sees Kavin play the role of a struggling actor. Ezhil Arasu K handles the cinematography.

Lokesh Kanagaraj produces Raghava Lawrence’s next (Tamil)

Filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj is all set to work on his next film with Rajinikanth Thalaivar171. The filmmaker is also concentrating on his production house G Squad, which made its debut with the Vijay Kumar starrer Fight Club. Now, the director will be producing the Raghava Lawrence starrer Benz.

From a story by Kanagaraj, Remo filmmaker Bakkiyaraj Kannan will be helming the project. Jagadish Palaniswamy and Sudhan Sundaram co-produced the film under The Route and Passion Studios. The film will reportedly stream on Netflix after its theatrical run.

Tammannah and Rashi Khanna starrer Aranmanai 4 gets a new release date (Tamil)

Sundar C’s Aranmanai 4 has reportedly pushed its release date. While the film was initially supposed to release on April 26, it has now been postponed to May 3. This is the second postponement that the film has undergone as it was initially set to be a Pongal release. The film stars Tamannah, Raashi Khanna, and Sundar C.

The film is directed by Sundar C and is backed by Benz Media Pvt Ltd and Avni Cinemax (P) Ltd. Hiphop Tamizha Aadhi will be scoring the music for the film while Esakki Krishnaswamy is the cinematographer.

HanuMan’s Teja Sajja announces his next (Telugu)

Actor Teja Sajja is all set to star in a new adventure drama called Mirai. The actor was last seen in the blockbuster HanuMan, which also has a sequel lined up and is currently in pre-production. The makers of Mirai released a glimpse of the film which parallels the protagonist’s journey with that of King Ashoka. Elements of martial arts can be seen in the teaser.

Mirai is directed by Karthik Gattamneni and is backed by TG Vishwa Prasad under the People’s Media Factory banner. The film also stars Ritika Nayak and has music by Gowra Hari. It is all set to release on April 18, 2025.

Nithiin’s Robinhood gets a release date (Telugu)

Nithiin’s next film with Venky Kudumla Robinhood is all set to release in cinemas soon. The makers have announced that the film will be released on December 20. The film sees Kudumla and Nithiin reunite after Bheeshma.

Robinhood is backed by Naveen Yerneni and Y Ravi Dhankar under the Mythrie Movie Makers banner. It also stars Sreeleela, Vennela Kishore, and Rajendra Prasad. The film has music by GV Prakash Kumar and cinematography by Sai Sriram.
