Malaikottai Vaaliban (Malayalam)

Mohanlal and  Lijo Jose Pellissery’s period spectacle tells the story of a warrior leading a resistance against the British empire, back in the day. The film penned by PS Rafeeque features actors from across the country including Danish Sait, Sonalee Kulkarni, Katha Nandi, Hareesh Peradi and Andrea Ravera among others.

Blue Star  (Tamil)

Told against the backdrop of caste-based oppression, Blue Star is the coming-of-age story of two guys from the same neighbourhood who constantly try to one-up each other in the local cricket tournament. The film featuring Ashok Selvan, Shantanu Bhagyaraj and Keerthi Pandian is directed by S Jayakumar.

Siddarth Anand’s follow-up directorial to the blockbuster Pathaan (2023) is a top gun-inspired take on an egotistical Indian Air Force officer who becomes part of an elite mission that alters his life in more ways than one. This action thriller features Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, Anil Kapoor, Karan Singh Grover and Akshay Oberoi.

Prathinidhi 2 (Telugu)

This sequel to the successful Prathinidhi (2014) will continue to narrate the story of a common man rising against the system to make a point. The political thriller features Naara Rohit in the lead role as a rebellious leader and is directed by Murthy Devaguthaphu.

Thookudurai (Tamil)

An 18th-century diadem goes missing. A tragic love story in the 90’s ends up a disaster. The stolen diadem resurfaces to wreak havoc on the life of a family two decades later. These seemingly connected events propel the narrative in this fantasy horror film starring Yogi Babu in the lead role. The film also features Iniya, Mottai Rajendran, Mahesh Subramaniyan and Bala Saravanan and is directed by Dennis Manjunath.

105 Minutes (Telugu)

Billed as ‘The world's first single shot single character movie’, this Hansika Motwani starrer is a chamber piece set entirely within a house. The film deals with the breakdown of a woman locked inside a house as she goes through a wild odyssey of dream-state revelations and nightmarish visions. The film is directed by Raju Dussa.

Before Marriage follows the life of a young woman who finds herself in trouble when she discovers that she is pregnant before her marriage. Directed by A Sreedhar Reddy, the film stars Naveena Reddy, Naga Mahesh and Hima Sailaja.

Captain Miller (Telugu)

Set in the pre-Independence era, Dhanush’s Captain Miller follows an ex-military officer who decides to stand up against the Britishers and the Indians who misuse power. It is the dubbed version of the Tamil films with the same name, which was out during the Pongal weekend. Directed by Arun Matheswaran, the film co-stars Shiva Rajkumar, Nivedhithaa Sathish, Priyanka Arul Mohan and Sundeep Kishan.

Case of Kondana (Kannada)

A newly appointed SI with a tumultuous reputation and aggressive background takes on the local gangster of the city, only to end up being part of a deadly chase that spirals out of control. Directed by Devi Prasad Shetty, the film stars Vijay Raghavendra, Bhavana Menon, Kushee and Ranghaya Raghu.
