Struggling to keep up with all the latest releases? Here is a look at what’s releasing across all languages in theatres this week.

Guntur Karam (Telugu)

When: January 12

Mahesh Babu returns to the big screen in a fiery avatar in Trivikram’s commercial entertainer. The film’s trailer hints at a family tussle between Babu and his mother played by Ramya Krishnan. It is the third collaboration between Mahesh Babu and Trivikram after the hits Athadu and Khaleja. It is also the director’s first film since 2020’s Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo. Thaman S handles the music for the film which also stars Sreeleela, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Jayaram, and Prakash Raj.

Abraham Ozler (Malayalam)

When: January 11

Actor Jayaram plays the role of a veteran cop in this thriller directed by Midhun Manuel Thomas. The film was supposed to be released on Christmas 2023 but was postponed. It also stars Arjun Ashokan, Jagadish, and Anaswara Rajan in pivotal roles. Mammotty is also rumored to make a cameo in the film.

Ayalaan (Tamil)

When: January 12

Sivakarthikeyan’s long-awaited alien comedy is releasing on January 12. The film sees an alien being stranded on Earth and meets Sivakarthikeyan’s character as its protector. Siddharth voices the CGI alien, while it also stars Rakul Preet Singh, Isha Kopikar, Yogi Babu, Sharad Kelkar, and Karunakaran. Directed by R Ravikumar, the film has music by AR Rahman.

Merry Christmas (Tamil & Hindi)

When: January 12

Director Sriram Raghavan’s follow-up to the hit Andhadhun is another thriller starring Vijay Sethupathi and Katrina Kaif. The film is bilingual and is rumored to have two different endings for each version. The trailer of the film too had different cuts. The film has a different cast for each version, with only the leads being common.

Captain Miller (Tamil)

When: January 12

Dhanush teams up with Rocky and Saani Kaayidham filmmaker Arun Matheswaran for an actioner with a western touch. The film co-stars Shiva Rajkumar, Priyanka Arul Mohan and Sundeep Kishan. Featuring music by GV Prakash Kumar, Captain Miller is one of the biggest films in Dhanush's career so far.

Mission: Chapter 1 (Tamil)

When: January 12

This Arun Vijay starrer is directed by Vijay and will see the actor escape a prison in London during a riot. It is an action entertainer that also stars Amy Jackson, Nimisha Sajayan, and Ali Hassan. The film has music by GV Prakash Kumar and is produced by Lyca Productions.

Anyone But You (English)

When: January 12

The romantic comedy stars Top Gun: Maverick fame Glen Powell and Euphoria’s Sidney Sweeny in the lead roles as two people who pretend to be a couple when they go to Australia for a wedding. The film is directed by Will Gluck who is known for the films Easy A and Friends with Benefits.

Saindhav (Telugu)

When: January 13

Venkatesh Daggubati stars in an action drama directed by Sailesh Kolanu of the HIT franchise. The film sees Venkatesh protect his daughter who has a terminal illness which leads him to confront his violent past. The film also stars Shraddha Srinath, Arya, Ruhani Sharma, Andreah Jeremiah, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in his Telugu cinema debut.

Naa Saami Ranga (Telugu)

When: January 14

Nagarjuna steps into a massy, rural world with Naa Saami Ranga, which marks the directorial debut of dance choreographer Vijay Binni. The film, reportedly an official adaptation of the Malayalam hit Porinju Mariam Jose, co-stars Allari Naresh, Ashika Ranganath, and Raj Tharun. The film has music by MM Keeravani.
