Salaar (Telugu)

When: December 21

One of the most awaited Indian films of the year, this big budget tentpole project from the makers of the KGF films, features Prabhas in the lead role. The action entertainer is set against the backdrop of a large monarchy, and deals with a deadly general of an army who is tasked with saving the successor’s reign. This ‘Game of Thrones’ like action drama will follow the story of two best friends who find themselves on opposing sides, after a series of unlikely power plays. The film directed by Prashant Neel will feature an ensemble supporting cast consisting of Prithviraj Sukumaran, Tinu Anand, Shruti Haasan, Sriya Reddy and Easwari Rao among others.

Dunki (Hindi)

When: December 21

The most anticipated teaming up of blockbuster director Rajkumar Hirani with in form Shah Rukh Khan, reeling off the success of two thousand crore collecting successes in 2023 with Jawan and Pathan. This comedy will feature Shahrukh Khan as a simpleton who takes on the challenge of migrating to a  foreign country in the hopes of marrying his lover played by Taapse Pannu. The film will see him lead a team of “doney flights group”, referring to people who try to enter a country through illegal means. The film also features Vicky Kaushal and Boman Irani in other pivotal roles.

Neru (Malayalam)

When: December 21

This legal drama starring Mohanlal in the lead role will deal with a complicated legal battle that forces a down and out lawyer to return to the court to get justice for a marginalized victim, who has been let down by the cracks in the judicial system. The emotional rollercoaster of the film mostly set within a courtroom is directed by Drishyam fame Jeethu Joseph with Priyamani, Siddique, Jagadeesh, Shanti Devi and Anaswara Rajan in the supporting cast.

Odavum Mudiyadhu Oliyavum Mudiyadhu (Tamil)

When: December 22

A large group of diverse characters are trapped in a theatre and are forced to spend time under the threat of a paranormal presence. The comedy traces their attempts at staying alive as a group, even though they start finding it hard to come to terms with each other. Directed by Ramesh Venkat, this film stars Satya Murti, Yashika Anand, Gopi Aravind and Sudhakar Jayaraman among others in the cast.

Aranam (Tamil)

When: December 22

The film is set against the backdrop of a village called Aranthangi, and the central drama is focused on the efforts of a foster son of a dead zamindar, who is asked to untangle the complexities of his mentor’s will, after his untimely death that ensues in a tug of war between his successors for power. The film starring and directed by Priyan, also features Varsha Saravanakumar, Lagubaran and Keerthana Kannadhasan in the leading roles.

Jigri Dosthu (Tamil)

When: December 22

Three loafers become a part of a rescue mission of a young woman after they come across her kidnapping attempt in broad daylight. The film deals with their unified attempts using latest technology equipment and means to save the stranger from her captors before time runs out. The film directed by Aran Vetriselvakkumar also features him in the lead along with a cast consisting of Shariq Hassan, Ammu Abhirami and VJ Ashiq among others.

Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom

When: December 21

This new installment of the popular Aquaman franchise from DC, will see Jason Momoa returning as the titular superhero. This iteration directed by James Wan will feature a new adventure by Acquaman, where he is forced to work with an unlikely ally to save his home Atlantis from annihilation in the hands of an unlikely nemesis. The ensemble superhero action film also includes Nicole Kidman, Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, Dolph Lundgren and Indya Moore rounding up the supporting cast.

Miriam Ma (Tamil)

When: December 22

This comedy deals with the plights of a single mother in her 50’s, who tries to get impregnated through IVF, against the wishes of her own family. The film tries to tackle the social taboos and restrictions that women are forced to adhere to even in the year 2023 as we march towards a more progressive society. The film directed by Malathy Narayan, features Rekha, V J Ashiq, Ezhil Durai and Malathy Narayan in the cast.

Pradhan (Bengali)

When: December 22

A sincere police officer gets transferred to a station populated by corrupt junior officials. Will he be able to follow his principles and deliver justice? Will his personal demons take over? This crime procedural directed by Avijit Sen features Dev Adhikari alongside screen veterans of Bengali cinema like Sabitri Chatterjee, Paran Bandyopadhyay and Mamata Shankar in the cast.
