Mahesh Babu plays a character who is deeply in love with money in Sarkaru Vaari Paata (Telugu)
Mahesh Babu and Keerthy Suresh starrer looks like a comedy-action entertainer centred around banking scams, loans and money. It is written and directed by Parasuram Petla. The film also stars Vennela Kishore, Samuthirakani and Subbaraju in important roles.
It is produced by Naveen Yerneni, Y. Ravi Shankar, Ram Achanta and Gopi Achanta under the banners Mythri Movie Makers, GMB Entertainment Pvt Ltd and 14 Reels Plus. R Madhi has done the cinematography and Thaman S has composed the music for the film. It is expected to release on May 12.
Adivi Sesh’s Hit: The Second Case gets a release date (Telugu)
The second installment of HIT: The First Case released in 2020 is scheduled to hit the screens on July 29. Titled Hit: The Second Case, the film stars Adivi Sesh and Meenakshi Chaudhary. Sailesh Kolanu, who helmed the first film, directs the second part as well. It is produced by Prashanti Tipirneni in association with actor Nani and has John Stewart Eduri handle the music.
Mohanlal’s 12th Man is a mystery thriller releasing on Disney+ Hotstar on May 20 (Malayalam)
A group of college friends and their companions take on a trip to the woods. When an unexpected murder occurs, all the friends are interrogated and each of their secret life is at stake.
Mohanlal and Jeethu Joseph join for the fourth time after the Drishyam series of films. The film also stars Unni Mukundan, Saiju Kurup, Shivada, Anu Sithara and Anusree. Antony Perumbavoor produces it under the banner Ashirvad Cinemas. Satheesh Kurup is the cinematographer, and Anil Johnson is the music director.
Jack N’ Jill promises a quirky sci-fi comedy (Malayalam)
Written, directed and cinematographed by Santosh Sivan, Jack N’ Jill is about a group of people working on a dream experiment. The trailer looks quirky with weird characters played by Manju Warrier, Soubin Shahir, Kalidas Jayaram, Nedumudu Venu, Aju Varghese, Indrans, Shaylee Krishen and Basil Joseph.
The film is produced by Gokulam Goplan, Santosh Sivan and M Prashanth Das under the banner Sree Gokulam Movies and Sewas Films. The music is composed by Jakes Bejoy, Ram Surendar and Gopi Sundar. It is scheduled to release on May 20.
Soubin Shahir’s Djinn looks like a psychological thriller, releases on May 13 (Malayalam)
In the mysterious trailer of Djinn, Soubin Shahir plays a character that is either possessed by ghosts or inner demons. It is penned by Rajesh Gopinadhan and directed by Sidharth Bharathan. The film also stars Shanthy Balachandran, Sharafudheen, Shine Tom Chacko and Sabumon.
Produced under the banner Straight Line Cinemas, the music is composed by Prashant Pillai and Gireesh Gangadharan is the DOP. It is also one of the last works of late K. P. A. C. Lalitha.
Keedam is scheduled to release on May 20 (Malayalam)
With criminals on the run, police and a woman closely related to the case work together to nab them. Keedam is written and directed by Rahul Riji Nair. The film stars Rajisha Vijayan, Sreenivasan, Vijay Babu, Manikandan Pattambi and Renjit Shekar Nair in lead roles. Produced by First Print Studios in association with FairyFrames Productions, Keedam will hit the theatres on May 20.
SJ Suriyah and Yashika starrer Kadamaiyai Sei trailer out (Tamil)
After Maanaadu, SJ Suriyah is expecting the releases of Don and Kadamaiyai Sei. In the latter, he plays a jobless graduate who then settles for a watchman duty. His normal life is affected when he is met with an accident that results in a brain disease called stooper. It traces the story of how he battles the disease and takes revenge on his enemies.
The film also stars Yashika Anand, Mottai Rajendran, Vincent Ashokan, Charles Vinodh and Seshu. It is written and directed by Venkatt Ragavan. Vinoth Rathinasamy handles the DOP and Arun Raj is the music director. Kadamaiyai Sei is produced by TR Ramesh and S Zahir Hussain.
First glimpse of Samantha’s Yashoda released (Telugu)
In the first glimpse of Yashoda, Samantha wakes up in what looks like a luxurious hospital bed or an apartment. However, she has been imprisoned in some sort of a maze. It is directed by Hari Shankar and Harish Narayan, and features Unni Mukundan and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar in important roles. The music is composed by Mani Sharma and it is scheduled to release in five languages on August 12.
Shekar is set to release in theatres on May 20 (Telugu)
When an accident looks suspicious, the police set out to find the criminal. As they get closer to the truth, a similar accident takes place injuring the policeman in charge of the case.
Written and directed by Jeevitha Rajashekar, the film stars Dr Rajashekar, Aathmeeya Rajan, Prakash Raj, Muskaan Kubchandhani, Abhinav Gomatam and Kannada Kishore. It is produced under the banners Pegasus Cinecorp, Taurus Cinecorp, Sudhakar Impex IPL and Tripura Creations.
Vishal, SJ Suryah’s Mark Antony goes on floors (Tamil)
Vishal’s 33rd film is titled Mark Antony and has a star cast of SJ Suryah, Ritu Varma and Sunil Verma. Helmed by Adhik Ravichandran, the film went on floors last week. While Vijay Velukutty is the editor, Abhinandan Ramanujam and GV Prakash are roped in as cinematographer and music composer respectively. It is produced by S Vinod Kumar.
Twenty One Hours is an investigative thriller releasing on May 20 (Kannada)
When a woman who is waiting for her father to pick her up goes missing, everyone around her become suspects. Twenty One Hours narrates what happens in the next few hours after that. The film stars Nata Raakshasa Daali Dhanajajya, Durga Krishna, Sudev Nair and Rahul Madhev. It is directed by Jaishankar Pandit and produced by NS Balakrishna, Abhishek Tumkur Rudramurthy, Sunil Gowda, Praveen Mahadeva and Aham Conceptam. Rupert Fernandes is the music director and S Thirunavukarasuu is the DOP.
First single from Silambarasan TR’s Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu out (Tamil)
Composed by AR Rahman, the makers of Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu have released the lyrical video of ‘Kaalathukkum Nee Venum’. The lyrics are penned by Thamarai. It is a feel-good romantic melody sung by Silambarasan TR and Rakshita Suresh. The film is directed by Gautam Vasudev Menon, and stars Silambarasan TR and Siddhi Idnani in lead roles. It is produced by Dr Ishari K Ganesh under the banner Vels Film International.
LOVE 360 trailer released (Kannada)
Love 360 is about a woman who is considered mentally ill and her lover who stands by her during her tough times. It is written and directed by Shashank, and stars Praveen and Rachana Inder. Arjun Janya has composed the music.
Mammootty’s next titled Rorschach, first look out (Malayalam)
Mammootty teams up with Kettyolaanu Ente Malakha fame Nisam Basheer for his next film titled Rorschach. It is said to be a thriller and is scripted by Sameer Abdul. The cast also includes Sharafudheen, Kottayam Nazeer, Jagadheesh, Sanju Sivaram, Grace Antony and Bindu Panicker. Nimish Ravi is the cinematographer and Midhun Mukundan is the music composer. The film is produced by Mammootty himself under the banner Mammootty Kampany with NM Badusha as co-producer.
Sivakarthikeyan’s Don is slated to hit the screens on May 13, trailer released (Tamil)
Written and directed by debutant Cibi Chakaravarthi, Don is a college centred romcom featuring Sivakarthikeyan and Priyanka Mohan as students and SJ Suryah as the principal. The film also stars Samuthirakani, Soori and Sivaangi Krishnakumar.
KM Bhaskaran is the cinematographer, Anirudh is the music director and Nagooran is the editor. The film is produced by Lyca Productions in association with Sivakarthikeyan Productions.
First song from Tovino Thomas starring Thallumaala out (Malayalam)
‘Kannil Pettole’, the first song from Thallumaala, is composed by Vishnu Vijay. It is a peppy number featuring the leads Tovino Thomas and Kalyani Priyadarshan in stylish looks. Mu. Ri and Irfana Hameed have penned the lyrics. It is sung by Vishnu Vijay and Irfana Hameed.
Thallumaala is directed by Khalid Rahman and written by Muhsin Parari and Ashraf Hamza. Produced by Ashiq Usman, Nishad Yusuf is the editor, and Jimshi Khalid handles the cinematography.
