Pathu Thala teaser ft. Silambarasan TR out (Tamil)

Leading a sand mafia, Silambarasan plays AG Ravana (AGR), an antihero in Pathu Thala. While common people curse him and protest against his illegal sand mining practices, politicians and crooks gang up to kill him. Gautham Vasudev Menon plays a politician and Gautham Karthik seems to essay the role of a rebel. Priya Bhavani Shankar too sports a politician look. Helmed by Obeli N Krishna, the AR Rahman musical is slated to hit the screens on March 30.

First look of Anushka-Naveen starrer Miss Shetty and Mr Polishetty out (Telugu)

Directed by debutant Mahesh Babu P, Miss Shetty and Mr Polishetty marks the comeback of Anushka Shetty to the big screen. The first look of the film gives a fun vibrant vibe as it introduces us to the polar opposite characters: Anushka is seen holding a boo titled “Happy Single” and Naveen is wearing a sweatshirt with “Ready to Mingle” written on it. Backed by UV Creations, the film is slated to hit theatres this summer. 

Thalaivar 170: Rajinikanth’s next is with Jai Bhim director TJ Gnanavel

The superstar is all set to work with TJ Gnanvel of Jai Bhim (2021) fame for Thalaivar 170. The producers Lyca Productions took to Twitter to announce the same. Notably, Rajinikanth and Lyca Productions have previously collaborated for Darbar (2020) and Kaala (2018). Anirudh Ravichander, who is composing music for Jailer, has been roped in to score for Thalaivar 170 as well. The makers are planning to release the film in 2024. 

Maheshum Maruthiyum teaser: How far will you go for a car? (Malayalam)

Billed as a romcom entertainer, the film revolves around the life of Mahesh loves his 80s model maruti car as much as he loves his girlfriend Gauri. This creates a rift in their relationship as Gauri feels that he cares more for the car. The film is slated to hit screens on March 10. Written and directed by Sethu, the film is produced by Maniyan Pilla Raju. It stars Asif Ali and Mamta Mohandas in the lead roles.

First look of Sudheer Babu from Maama Mascheendra is out (Telugu)

Sudheer Babu will be essaying three roles — Durga, Parusuram and DJ — in Maama Masheendra. The first look of his character Durga, an obese man sitting on a jeep, was revealed by the makers. Maama Mascheendra is the directorial debut of actor Harsha Vardhan. 

Produced by Suneil Narang and Puskur Ram Mohan Rao, Marthand K Venkatesh has handled the editing and PG Vinda has lensed the film. The music for the film has been scored by Chaitan Bharadwaj. 

Anger Tales gets a trailer (Telugu)

Anger Tales is a Telugu anthology that revolves around the concept of anger and how it shapes the lives and stories of the four main characters. The anthology will premiere on Disney+ Hotstar on March 9. It is directed by Prabhala Tilak and co-written by Karthikeya Karedla. Produced by Sridhar Reddy and Suhas, Anger Tales stars Venkatesh Maha, Suhas, Ravindra Vijay, Bindu Madhavi, Phani Acharya, Tharun Bhascker, Madonna Sebastian. 

Nivin Pauly’s Thuramukham gets a new release date (Malayalam)


Rajeev Ravi’s long-delayed Thuramukham is all set to hit screens on March 10. A period drama based on KM Chidambaram's play of the same name, the film has been penned by Gopan Chidambaram, the son of the playwright. Set during the 1920 - 1960s, the film revolves around the struggle of workers in the Kochi harbour and their protests against their corrupt superior officers. Nivin Pauly is said to essay the role of Mattanchery Moidu and the film tries to depict the Chappa system practised at the Mattancherry harbour.

Kiran Abbavaram's Meter gets a release date (Telugu)

Billed as a commercial entertainer, Meter is directed by debutant Ramesh Kaduri and is slated to hit screens on April 7, 2023. Produced by Chiranjeevi and Hemalatha Pedamallu under the banner Clap Entertainment, the film will be presented by Naveen Yerneni and Ravi Shankar Yalamanchili of Mythri Movie Makers. Venkat C Dileep and Suresh Sarangam are the cinematographers while the music is composed by Sai Kartheek. 

A cab ride gone wrong in Bad Trip, teaser out (Telugu)

Written and directed by Krishna Kanth Mamidala, Bad Trip revolves around a simple cab ride that turns into a kidnapping plot. This black comedy thriller follows three strangers who share a cab with a contract killer. And the teaser gives a glimpse of the fun filled thrill ride filled with laughter and unexpected twists. Produced by Mahi IIIindra, it stars Ravi Varma, Archana Shastry, Giridhar, Chaitanya Krishna, Adrika Sharma, Prachi Thaker in lead roles. It is an eight episode series slated to premiere on Sony Liv on March 10.

Naatu Naatu to be performed live at the Oscars (Telugu)


Naatu Naatu, the Academy award nominated number from the film RRR is to be performed live at the ceremony. Singers Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava will be performing MM Keeeravaani’s composition live at the Oscars. Up until now, the only other Indian song that has been performed at the Oscars is ‘Jai Ho’ from Slumdog Millionaire (2008). Notably, Naatu Naatu is the first Asian song to receive a Golden Globe and the song has over 120 million views on YouTube.

Sshivada, Chandhunadh, Aparna Das and Anu Mohan team up for a new film (Malayalam)

Directed by debutant Abhayakumar K, the crime drama is titled Secret Home. Set in Kottayam, the film follows a crime surrounding the main characters played by Sshivada, Chandhunadh, Aparna Das and Anu Mohan. The film is written by Anil Kurian. 


Anil Kurian and Abhayakumar had earlier co-written Punyalan Agarbattis, Chathur Mukham and Priyan Ottathilanu. Ajay David Kachappilly is the cinematographer and Rajesh Rajenndrran is the editor. Produced by Santhosh Thrivikraman, the music for the film is composed by Sankar Sharma.

A murder is meticulously planned in Varalaxmi Sarathkumar’s Kondraal Paavam (Tamil)

Written and directed by Dayal Padmanabhan, Kondraal Paavam is a remake of the director’s Kannada film titled Aa Karaala Ratri, which was based on a play by the same name. Set against the backdrop of a lonely house in Dharmapuri, the film is a crime thriller and marks Dayal’s entry into Tamil cinema. In the film’s trailer, the character of Varalaxmi Sarathkumar is seen planning to kill Santosh Pratap with the help of her parents. Produced by Pratap Krishna and Manoj Kumar, the film co-stars Eswari Rao and Charlie in prominent roles. Sam CS has composed the music for the film. 

Abhilash, Abhidass and Prabhu Mundkur to team up for Rangu Ragale (Kannada)


Rangu Ragale is a multistarrer romcom directed by Jack. Abhilash (of Love Mocktail fame), popular serial artist Abhidass and actor Prabhu Mundkur have been roped in to play the main characters. Jack has earlier assisted a few Tamil directors and Rangu Ragale will mark his directorial debut.

Sangeetha Sringeri to star in a song in Shivaji Surathkal 2 (Kannada)


777 Charlie actress Sangeetha Sringeri will be featured in a special song in Shivaji Surathkal 2. She will be sharing screen space with Ramesh Aravind for the first time. The song is composed by Judah Sandy and will be choreographed by Dhananjay master. Shivaji Surathkal 2 is an investigative thriller that has the tagline: mysterious case of Maayavi. Written and directed by Akash Srivatsa, the film stars Radhika Narayan, Nassar, Meghana Gaonkar and Radhika Narayan in important roles.

Yogi Babu's next titled High Court Maharaja (Tamil)


Helmed by A Bakkiyaraj, Yogi Babu’s next is titled High Court Maharaja. Produced by Emperumanar Kalyana Prasanna Kumar and Krishna Vagha, the film stars debutant Anju Krishna Ashok as the female lead. Other details about the film are kept under wraps.

Mallika Singh roped in for Vinay Rajkumar's upcoming film (Kannada)

Helmed by Suni, the upcoming film of Vinay Rajkumar will see debutant Mallika Singh as a Kashmiri girl. Singh is known for her role in the popular Hindi serial RadhaKrishn, as the dubbed Kannada version was also well received. Anchor-turned-actor Swathishta Krishnan will be seen playing the role of a journalist in this romantic drama.
