Here’s a recap of the significant stories in entertainment across Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada films, and sometimes the odd television series as well.
Billed as a romantic drama, Prince is a Tamil-Telugu bilingual film. Starring Sivakarthikeyan in the lead role, the film is slated to release on October 21. It is helmed by Anudeep KV and stars Ukrainian actress Maria Ryaboshapka as the female lead.
The film is produced by D Suresh Babu, Narayan Das K Narang, and Puskur Ram Mohan Rao under the banners Suresh Productions Pvt, Sree Venkateshwara Cinemas LLP, and Shanthi Talkies. Thaman has scored the music for the film.
The 80-second teaser of Gandhi Talks introduces us to the four main characters played by Vijay Sethupathi, Arvind Swami, Aditi Rao Hydari, and Marathi actor Siddharth Jadhav. With Rahman's version of the bhajan 'Raghupati Raghava Raja Ram' playing in the background, we see them using different rupee notes for different purposes.
The no-dialogue film is directed by Kishor P Belekar of Hajari (2020) fame. The AR Rahman musical is produced by Zee Studios, Kyoorius Digital Pvt. Ltd. & Movie Mill Entertainment. While Karan Rawat will be handling the cinematography, Ashish Mhatre will be editing the film.
Mukundan Unni Associates starring Vineeth Sreenivasan marks the directorial debut of editor Abhinav Sunder Nayak of Vaayai Moodi Pesavum and Aanandam fame. In the first look poster, Sreenivasan’s character has four hands holding a book each with titles dedication, perseverance, discipline, and hard work, and two hands holding an extra head. Going by the first and second posters, Sreenivasan seems to play an advocate in the film. The film is slated to release in November.
Director Abhinav Sunder Nayak has also co-written and co-edited Mukundan Unni Associates. The film is also penned by Vimal Gopalakrishnan and has music by Sibi Mathew Alex. Produced by Dr. Ajith Joy, Viswajith Odukkathil has lensed the film and Nidhin Raj Arol has co-handled the editing.
The three-minute long trailer of Padavettu sees Nivin Pauly's Ravi change from a lazy man who is made fun and gets beaten up to a powerful rebel who fights the politicians. The film which is said to be set in the backdrop of north Kerala explores the socio-political issues of the area. The trailer has a lot of action sequences, where Ravi takes down masked enemies, politicians and also a few villagers who mock him. Padavettu is set to hit the screens on October 21.
Helmed by Liju Krishna, Padavettu co-stars Aditi Balan, Shammi Thilakan, Shine Tom Chacko and Indrans. The film is produced by Vikram Mehra, Siddharth Anand Kumar, and Sunny Wayne. While Deepak D Menon is the cinematographer, Shafique Mohamed Ali is the editor and Govind Vasantha is the music director.
Billed as a romantic action entertainer, Charan Rory’s Rory is set in the political backdrop of Hyderabad and follows the journey of a young man who travels from Hyderabad to Pakistan under certain circumstances. The teaser gives us a glimpse of the chaotic world as the location shifts between India and Pakistan.
Directed by Charan Rory, the film stars Charan, Karishma, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Jayaprakash, and Devi Prasad in prominent roles. The film is also produced by Charan Rory under the banner CTF Studios. The music for the film is composed by Bheems Ceciroleo and Karthika Srinivas is handling the editing.
The national award-winning director Vetrimaaran will be making a film on the life of Velupillai Prabhakaran. He is the founder and leader of the militant organisation LTTE (Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam). Politician Senthamizhan Seeman will produce the film. He took to Twitter to share the film announcement.
Written and directed by Charukesh Sekar, Ammu will be the streaming service’s first original Telugu movie. It is an empowering story that traces the journey of a woman from being a victim of domestic violence to rising against all adversities. Aishwarya Lekshmi who was last seen as Poonguzhali in Ponniyin Selvan I is essaying the role of the titular character Ammu.
The film is produced by Karthik Subbaraj under the Stone Bench banner, It stars Bobby Simha and Naveen Chandra. The film will also be available in Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi, and Kannada.
Billed as a horror film, Khaimara went on floors on Vijayadashami. The film marks Gautam VP’s directorial debut in Kannada cinema. It is produced by V Mathiyalagan who will also be essaying a prominent role in the movie. Khaimara co-stars Priyamani and Chaya Singh. While Srikanth will edit the film, Manigandan will handle the camera and Guru Kiran will score the music for the film.
Karthi, who was last seen as Vandhiyathevan in Ponniyin Selvan I is gearing up for the release of his next Sardar, which is slated for this Diwali. In this film, Karthi has sung a rural folk song Yerumayileri, penned by Yugabharathi. Music composer GV Prakash shared a photo of Karthi from the studio with the announcement on his social media and the song is said to be an ode to the classical theatre performances.
Directed by PS Mithran, Sardar is an espionage thriller that follows a spy who infiltrates into Indian military's confiscation vault. The film is produced by Lakshman under the banner Prince Pictures and co-stars Raashi Khanna, Rajisha Vijayan, and Simran. Ruben has handled the cuts and George C Williams has cranked the camera.
Director Pradeep Ranganathan who made his debut with Jayam Ravi's Comali (2019) has turned actor with his next Love Today. Uthaman Pradeep (Pradeep Ranganathan) and Nikitha (Ivana) play lovers who believe they know each other very well and decide to get married. But Nikitha’s father asks them to exchange their phones for a day. How well do they actually know each other? Will they find out each other’s secrets through the phones? The film is an extension of Ranganathan's short film App(a) Lock.
Love Today co-stars Yogi Babu, Radikaa Sarathkumar, Raveena, Finally Bharath, Adithya Kathir, and Aajeedh Khalique. The Yuvan Shankar Raja musical is produced under the banner of AGS Entertainment. While Dinesh Purushothaman has handled the cinematography, Pradeep E Ragav has edited the film.
Actor Suresh Gopi, who was last seen in Mei Hoom Moosa, took to Twitter to share the announcement poster for his 255th film. With a superimposed figure of Lady Justice in the backdrop, the film’s poster has the tagline, ‘Truth Shall Always Prevail'. Directed by Pravin Narayan of Ankarajyathe Jimmanmar fame and produced by Cosmos Entertainment banner, the film will hit the floors this month.
Helmed by Mathiraj Iyamperumal, Ajinomoto is said to be a crime thriller. The first look poster, released by Vijay Sethupathi, gives an illusion of a romantic film. But it looks like the heroine is personified as a violin and the hero is playing it while blood drips from her neck. The director has weaved the theme of the film based on the concept of the flavour enhancer Ajinomoto, where certain situations might seem good initially but later one will realise that it is not what it appeared to be.
Produced by Sivaraj Panneerselvam and A Thamizh Selvan of Dattatrey Studios, the film stars RS Karthiik and Gayathri Rema, Aradhya, Shyam, Ananth Nag, and Pranshu Tiwari. While DM Udhay Kumar has composed the music for the film, K Gangadaran has handled the cinematography.
Bankrolled by G Dilli Babu of Ratsasan fame, Miral is set amidst a large windmill field. Bharath and Vani Bhojan play husband and wife, who along with their son Sai, travel to Bhojan's hometown. However, when the trio decide to get back to the city late one night, they get stuck in a windmill field, surrounded by masked assailants. Why are they attacked? Will they be able to survive the night and reach home? The horror thriller is slated to hit the theatres this November.

Kids from different teams take part in the football tournament of Aanaparambile and try to win the cup. The film explores the chaotic world of these football lovers, their personal lives, and how they train and perform in the tournament.

Billed as a family entertainer, the teaser of Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey begins with a bride-seeing ceremony. When Jaya's (Darshana Rajendran) parents tell the groom (Basil Joseph) that she is willing to continue her studies after marriage, a reluctant Joseph mockingly suggests that she instead join Public Service Commission coaching. The teaser then shows us the couple's life after marriage, with Jaya trying to meet the expectations of her in-laws. The film is slated to hit the theatres this Diwali on October 21.
Helmed by Vipin Das, Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey co-stars Aju Varghese, Azees Nedumangad, Sudheer Paravoor, Manju Pillai, Hareesh Pengan, and others. Co-written by Nashid Mohamed Famy, the film is produced by Lakshmi Warrier and Ganesh Menon. While Bablu Aju has lensed the film, John Kutty has handled the editing and Ankit Menon has composed its music.
Roopa Koduvayur who made her debut in Telugu cinema with Uma Maheshwara Ugra Roopasya steps into Tamil cinema with Yamakaathagi. The film is said to be a supernatural mystery thriller. The first look for the film was launched by Rashmika Mandanna on her Instagram handle which gives an eerie vibe as it features a scarecrow draped in red saree with an ambulance and a group of people in the backdrop.
The film also stars Narendra Prasath, Haritha, Geetha Kailasam and Subash Ramasamy in prominent roles. Directed by Peppin George Jayaseelan, it is produced by Sujith Sarang and Sreejith Sarang under their banner Sarang Brothers.
Helmed by Merlapaka Gandhi, Like Share & Subscribe is a crime comedy that traces the journey of a travel vlogger who travels to beautiful places with his cameraman friend. But his world turns upside down when he meets a fellow YouTuber during one such trip. The film is slated to hit the screens on November 4.
Like, Share & Subscribe is produced by Venkat Boyanapalli under the banners of Aamuktha Creations and Niharika Entertainment. The film stars Santosh Shobhan, Nellore Sudarshan, and Faria Abdullah in lead roles. While Ramu Tumu has handled the editing, Praveen Lakkaraju and Ram Miriyala have scored the music.
Helmed by VS Selvadurai, Kolavi is a film based on real-life events and explores family structures and role of women in building families. Ayodhi fame Ameera Varma has been roped in to play the female lead opposite R K Suresh.
