FC Gold 2023 Winner: Sathyan Suryan| Dasara

Sathyan Suryan, a master of portraying raw energy on screen in films like Kaithi and Theeran, once again transports us to the wildness of Veerlapally in Srikant Odela’s Dasara. The use of yellow light in night sequences, and dark color palette in day sequences makes the character & world more tangible to us. The way Suryan uses the camera in the pre-interval block feels as if we are not only mere observers but also a part of the massacre that is taking place. Dasara will be remembered for many reasons - one of which will definitely be Suryan’s camerawork.
