Toward the end of Kohrra, a character says, “yeh pyaar bhi badi gandu cheez hoti hai, badi gandu. Kisi naal bhi ho jaata hai.” Love propels the many tragedies in this six-part series but ultimately, it also provides redemption and a glimpse of hope. Even in this world, frayed by toxic patriarchy, greed, crime, corruption and lies, compassion holds out. Director Randeep Jha, writers Gunjit Chopra and Diggi Sisodia and showrunner Sudip Sharma create a masterful and layered narrative that lands like a gut-punch. The ensemble cast - led by Suvinder Vicky as Balbir Singh and Barun Sobti as his junior Garundi - deliver stellar performances. Kohrra is a masterful telling of stories that feel inevitable and eternal. That is the power of love.
