FC Disruptors: Hesham Abdul Wahab

Music director: Hridayam
FC Disruptors: Hesham Abdul Wahab

From a broke boy in Saudi, running from one shop to another, to get his hands on pirated A.R. Rahman cassettes to the last music director in Malayalam to release a physical, musical album as a cassette, Hesham’s gradual rise to stardom remains an anomaly as directors choose to actively remove songs from their films. The blockbuster Hridayam came with 15 songs, each with its own fan base. It proved again that nothing sells a movie faster and better than its songs and when used in the context of a romance/ coming-of-age story, the songs became as important as a lead character. Classical music, an anthem, a sprawling love song in ‘Darshana’, the complete album brought back the joy of devouring an album like in the old days.
