Islands Where Bollywood Movies Are Shot

Team FC

Mauritius – Agneepath (1990)

Nobody who has seen it can forget the moment Vijay Deenanath Chavan (Amitabh Bachchan) emerges from the sea à la Ursula Andress from Dr. No (1962) to have a face-to-face with Kancha Cheena (Danny Denzongpa), a moment that was filmed in Mauritius.

New Zealand – I Hate Luv Storys (2010)

A fair amount of the Punit Malhotra romcom was filmed in Kiwi country, with the song "Sadka" really diving into the country's landscape.

Cuba – Ek Tha Tiger (2012)

Kabir Khan's action thriller became the first Indian film to have portions canned in Cuba, where most of the final act is set and shot.

Santorini – Bang Bang (2014)

Siddharth Anand uses Greece as a getaway from goons for his leads Rajveer (Hrithik Roshan) and Harleen (Katrina Kaif), who proceed to fall in love in the idyllic isle.

Sri Lanka – Bombay Velvet (2015)

For obvious reasons, Anurag Kashyap's Bombay Velvet was not shot in the city from which it derives its title, instead recreating it across nine acres of land in Sri Lanka.

Corsica, France – Tamasha (2015)

The opening act of Imtiaz Ali's drama is set and shot in Corsica, a French island in the Mediterranean, including the picturesque "Matargashti" number.

Krabi Island, Thailand – Baar Baar Dekho (2016)

Nitya Mehra's sci-fi romance shipped off to Thailand to can pivotal portions of the post-nuptials romance between Diya (Katrina Kaif) and Jai (Sidharth Malhotra).

Andaman and Nicobar, India – The Sky is Pink (2019)

Shonali Bose's unconventional biopic had portions filmed in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, a rarity in mainstream Hindi cinema.
