Main Chali Main Chali from Padosan (1968)

This song by Lata Mangeshkar is a very simple and pure song. It is filmed showing a group of girlfriends cycling around the town. The singer wants to seek love and her friends are being protective, warning her against it.

Masakali from Delhi-6 (2009)

The song compares Sonam Kapoor to the pigeon, conveying her carefree and whimsical spirit. While the connection between the two is deeper in the film, this song holds the spirit of each of them just having fun.

Udi Teri Aankhon Se from Guzaarish (2010)

This song shows Aishwarya Rai’s character getting very involved in the song, and she can’t help herself but to dance. Later, other women from the bar also end up joining her.

Aunty Ji from Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu (2011)

The song doesn’t address anybody in particular but is wooing a so-called “Aunty” into dancing. It picks the right lines to convey the spirit of aging like fine wine,“aur nasheeli ho wine puraani aunty”.

Voh Dekhnay Mein from London Paris New York (2012)

It describes the complicated, contradicting and yet charming personality of Aditi Rao Hydari’s character in the film. This song makes you want to embrace your quirks and also be loved for them.

Girls like to Swing from Dil Dhadakne Do (2015)

This song by Sunidhi Chauhan is a message for people to ask women more about their dreams, ambitions and desires. It speaks of women being more than smiling shiny faces.

Heer Toh Badi Sad Hai from Tamasha (2015)

This song is by Mika Singh and Nakash Aziz, it is one of the rare songs that brings out a woman’s phase of disconnect and frustration about the life around her. “Heer” is the manifestation of times when life doesn’t feel your own.
