Article 15 Trailer Talk: What Looks To Be Another Scathing, Hard-Hitting Look At The Social Fabric Of The Country

Team FC

The trailer of Anubhav Sinha's Article 15 has arrived.

Like his previous film Mulk, this looks to be another hard-hitting, scathing look at the social fabric of the country, in his signature approach – unabashedly on the nose and looking to provoke. There his choice of target was communal hate against Muslims, here it's the caste system, explored through the investigation into the case a missing girl in the Hindi heartlands.

The stirring, effective trailer takes us through the case of two girls, murdered in an honour killing with their sister still missing. Ayushmann Khurrana is the cop who's brought in to investigate and challenge the system, refusing to accept the caste-based status quo. The cast includes Sayani Gupta, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Kumud Mishra and Manoj Pahwa – who's turn in Mulk will be remembered as one of 2018's best performances.

Set around Article 15 of the Indian constitution, the film's message is simple. Everyone has a right to justice, regardless of caste or creed. The trailer suggests that Sinha's film looks to explore how the caste system and social hierarchy is present at every level of society, from the people to the police.

Article 15 releases on June 28th. You can watch the trailer below:
