PSV Garuda Vega was one of the surprise hits of 2017 in Telugu cinema and it marked a spectacular comeback for actor Rajasekhar, who hadn’t tasted success in more than a decade. Written and directed by Praveen Sattaru, the ambitious project delved into the world plutonium scam in the aftermath of the Pokhran nuclear tests, hacking and international smuggling.
The film follows the life of Shekhar (Rajasekhar), a high ranking official in National Investigation Agency (NIA), who finds it hard to strike a balance between his personal and professional life. His wife Swati (Pooja Kumar) is annoyed with his demanding job and forces him to come along with her for marriage counseling sessions. One fine day, when Shekhar makes up his mind to quit his job, he comes across the suspicious death of an old woman. Before he knows it, he tumbles down a rabbit hole that leads him to uncover a major scam involving several bigwigs in the country and also an international smuggling gang.
Made with a budget of more than Rs 25 crores, the film was highly praised for its spectacular action choreography, taut screenplay, and a rousing background score. The film turned out to be a surprise hit at the Box Office and gave a new lease of life to Rajasekhar’s career. But more than that, Praveen Sattaru proved that a great script and vision are important to deliver a thrilling experience to the viewers.
