Netrikann Trailer Talk: Nayanthara Stars In A Psycho Killer Thriller Revolving Around A ‘Blind Witness’

After a teaser that revealed little information, the trailer of Nayanthara starrer Netrikann gives us a little more to work with in terms of plot and setting. First impressions reveal the story of defiant psycho killer who has kidnapped and hurt 12 women. The police force seems to have no clue and the murderer feels invisible until the character played by Nayanthara makes her entry.

The superbly cut trailer uses action scenes to the rhythm of its background score to heighten the drama. The Lady Superstar also gets a particularly 'massy' dialogue that transforms her from the hunted to the hunter. Ajmal Ameer will be playing the villain while Manikandan can be seen playing a police officer.

The trailer also has room for lighter moments when Nayanthara's character claims to have certain other 'super powers' like that of smell (she knows that the officer ate onions in the evening).  Overall, a slick thriller awaits us with style and drama.

Titled Netrikann (meaning third eye), the film appears to be about a visually-challenged person who gets stuck right in the middle of a crime. Narrated in the voice of her character in a story-like fashion, she explains that there was a wily fox that was attacking lambs, as visuals of a man torturing men and women are seen. It appears that another lamb (possibly her) gets ready to lay a trap for this fox.

The thriller is directed by Milind Rau, known for movies like romantic-comedy Kadhal 2 Kalyanam and the horror film Aval. The film is reportedly an official remake of 2011 South Korean movie Blind.

It is being produced by Vignesh Shivan and the film was originally scheduled to release in theatres in 2020. Nayanthara's previous film was the Hotstar release Mookuthi Amman, directed by RJ Balaji.
