The trailer of Sudeep-starrer Kotigobba 3 was released today. A sequel to KS Ravikumar’s Kotigobba 2 (Mudinja Ivana Pudi in Tamil), the trailer begins with Sudeep as ‘Ghost’. A voiceover asks if the Ghost is a hero or a villain, because he is apparently responsible for four bomb blasts (we see the visual of a Big Ben-like tower exploding), the arrest of several criminals, and millions of dollars that have gone missing. Aftab Shivdasani plays an investigating officer who swears to nab the Ghost (Shraddha Das plays his associate).

The trailer switches to the Sathya and Shiva characters from Kotigobba 2. We see snippets of the romantic track between Madonna Sebastian and Sudeep. Then suddenly, the trailer switches to the villain who declares himself to be a ‘Merchant of Death’ and holds a vial of virus with which he wants to control the whole world. Like Kotigobba 2, there’s comical confusion between Sathya and Shiva in the film. Near the end of the trailer, we hear the cool Kotigobba 2 soundtrack by D. Imman as Sudeep smashes the heads of villains on the floor, chases a car on a bike, and — as the Ghost — shoots up baddies.

Kotigobba 3 is a sequel to Kotigobba 2 that was released in 2016 and was directed by KS Ravikumar. Merely taking on the name without continuing the story, Kotigobba 2 wasn’t a real sequel to the original 2001 film, Kotigobba, starring Vishnuvardhan (and directed by Naganna) which was the official Kannada remake of Rajinikanth-starrer Baashha.

Directed by Shivakarthik, the film stars Sudeep, Madonna Sebastian, Shraddha Das, P. Ravi Shankar, Aftab Shivdasani, Abhirami and Nawab Shah. Cinematography is by Shekhar Chandru, editing by Praveen Antony, stunts by Kanal Kannan, and music by Arjun Janya (Roberrt, Pailwan). Produced by MB Babu and presented by Rockline Venkatesh, Kotigobba 3 releases worldwide on 14 October theatrically.
