Streaming Calendar: 27 Movies And Shows To Watch In February 2021, Film Companion

In the age of the Coronavirus quarantine, lockdown and self-isolation, many more of us are relying on streaming platforms in search of distraction, escape or just plain entertainment.

With a new year comes new possibilities, talent, collaborations and shiny new releases for us to get lost in. February promises to start the year on a high, with a number of exciting streaming releases.

From the Abhay Deol-starrer 1962: The War In The Hills on Disney+ Hotstar, to the highly anticipated Drishyam 2 on Amazon Prime Video, here is a list of what’s releasing this month across platforms.


Malcolm and Marie

When: February 5th

Rising stars Zendaya and John David Washington star in an intriguing drama about a filmmaker and his girlfriend who, after returning home from his movie premiere, break into an argument revealing smouldering tensions and painful revelations.

Space Sweepers

When: February 5th

The South Korean sci-fi spectacle takes place in the year 2092, where four misfits unearth explosive secrets during the attempted trade of a wide-eyed humanoid.

Crime Scene: The Vanishing At The Cecil Hotel

When: February 10th

Los Angeles’ notorious Cecil Hotel grows in infamy after the disappearance of guest Elisa Lam, explored in this latest Netflix docuseries about some of crime’s darkest places. 

To All The Boys: Always and Forever

When: February 12th 

The popular franchise returns for its third and final instalment. As senior year of high school takes center stage, Lara Jean returns from a family trip to Korea and considers her college plans with and without Peter.

The Big Day

When: February 14th

After Indian Matchmaking and Badboy Billionaires, Netflix’s latest non-fiction series set in India explores the multibillion dollar wedding industry by following six engaged couples, to break down what goes into putting together their lavish weddings.

One of 2020’s most acclaimed films finally makes its way to streaming. The indie gem follows a monkey repeller who struggles to find his footing in his unenviable job and his place in the unforgiving world.

The reign of the Indian anthology continues. This time it’s a Telugu anthology with four films which explore the darker, deceptive sides of love.

The Girl On The Train

When: February 26th

Parineeti Chopra stars in the streaming giant’s latest Bollywood acquisition. Based on the popular novel of the same name, the thriller follows a girl who gets sucked into a twisty murder investigation after she witnesses a horrid crime.

Owen Wilson and Salma Hayek star in this heady sci-fi about a man who chooses to live in a simulated reality world. But when the newfound “Bliss” world begins to bleed into the real world, he must decide what’s real and where he truly belongs.

The Map Of Tiny Perfect Things

When: February 12th 

Two teens are stuck in a time loop, living the same day over and over again in the latest rom-com from Amazon Prime Video.

Life In A Year

When: February 14th 

Jaden Smith and Cara Delavigne star as a couple who attempt to live out an entire lifetime in a year as they grapple with terminal illness. 

Drishyam 2

When: February 15th 

The highly anticipated sequel to one of the most celebrated Malayalam films of all time has Mohanlal return as the now-iconic George Kutty in this sequel written and directed by Jeethu Joseph.

The Souvenir

When: February 19th

Julie, a film student, falls in love with a charismatic man. However, when she realises that he is an emotionally unstable heroin addict, her life turns upside down.

The Broken Hearts Gallery

When: 24 February 2021

You can never have too many rom-coms in February I guess? Based on the book of the same name, this one stars Geraldine Viswanathan and Stranger Things‘ Dacre Montgomery and follows 20-year-old Lucy who decides to save a souvenir from every relationship she’s ever been in.

Disney+ Hotstar

Live Telecast

When: February 12th

Disney+ Hotstar continues its foray into Tamil originals with Live Telecast starring Kajal Agarwal. The series follows members of a TV crew who, while attempting to create a hit show, find themselves trapped in a haunted house.

1962: The War In The Hills

When: February 26th 

Abhay Deol stars in a Disney+ Hotstar’s latest Hindi original series which follows the Sino-Indian War, where 126 Indians defended a strategic pass against 3,000 enemy soldiers.

Little Birds
